Since Create Change’s Ghana Girls’ Education Program was initiated in 2007, it has witnessed change in the lives of almost 800 girls in Northern Ghana who have a dream of getting an education so they can pull themselves out of poverty.

Every October, hundreds of students who have gained admission to high school line up outside Create Change’s office in Ghana in hopes of receiving support through the provision of school fees and supplies. After an extensive interview process with the girls and their families, scholarship recipients receive school fees and school supplies according to each girls’ individual needs. Create Change field staff also visit girls on a monthly basis in order to address both personal and academic problems they may be facing. Their report cards are also reviewed at the end of every academic term, to ensure girls are receiving the support they need to achieve their full potential.

The camps take children out of their home environment and away from everyday challenges. This short but intensive period yields a transformative and lasting change in the way students think and make decisions.
