Joseph is an orphan who has suffered many things. After the death of his father, who was always quarreling with the mother, he went back to his mother's father. Later, the mother remarried in the Western Province of Kenya and took back custody of Joseph. The second father disliked the boy and refused to provide for the basic needs. Now he is happy to be at the Ah-gah-pay Mercy Children Centre – Kenya where his needs are met. He is a very bright boy in his academic work. His ambition is to be a bus driver. During the 2008 violence, Joseph and his family were kicked out of their house and went back to his grandfather. The mother is unemployed and the grandfather has no source of income to care for the family and educate the boy. He was at-risk of dropping out of school and going to the streets to seek ways of survival. His favorite subject is English.
