About

Mutua is the last-born child in a family of five children. He is the only deaf child within his family. His father passed away when he was young leaving them under the care of their aged and jobless mother. The family does not own land, which is a vital resource here for people's livelihood. The family survives through donations from well-wishers. Mutua owes his high school education to a catholic priest who sponsored him to enroll in this special school, but has since stopped paying for his school fees. He owes the school a big balance in school fees. His elder brother and sisters have never had the opportunity to go to high school and so high school education for Mutua is an opening to a bright future.
