About

Eliezer, who goes by John, is 20 years old and lives in Leogane, Haiti. When he was 8 years old, Eliezer lost his mother. Just 3 years later, he lost his father. Since he was young, he has been taking care of his younger brother, who he used to just sit with since they were unable to attend school. They were unable to attend school for 3 years after their father died. Eliezer calls school an "investment" and says that with his schooling he will be able to help other young people who are unable to finish school as well. Since the earthquake on January 12, Eliezer says that the students have struggled to stay focused and to remain motivated. Eliezer would like to study economics as well as journalism. Since there are no schools in Haiti that cover these subjects, Eliezer says, he would like to study in another country with more advanced programs.

Bonjou,

How are you? Today it is with joy and smiles that I write to you. First of all, happy New Year 2011 in all that you do. Today I would like to thank you, because your help gives me courage when you help me in Haiti with my studies.

Thank you Mr. Shen, I think of you a lot, I pray for you a lot to God so that he can give you good health, with courage in your life every day. Thank you Mr. Shen, today I think of you like a father, because what you're doing for me is like what a father and mother would do for me. Before I found you, I thought a lot about my mother and father, who died, and when my little brother Jocelyn and I would suffer as young children. Since I found you I feel better with Jesus. Today I see you go farther to help me.

Thank you so, so much for your help, it is a huge marvel to me what you are doing for Haiti, because a lot of people are watching us, they see us suffering a lot in our lives, and you are there for me and that will be good for other young people, because my plan is to finish my studies in another country so I can have the means to help a lot of other children who also don't have mothers or fathers.

Stay strong, don't let go, thank you again! This is Maitre John Eliezer.
