Hassan is an orphan. He lost his father in 1999, when he was four years old, and his mother three years later in 2002. Hassan now lives with his uncle in Dar Es Salaam. In primary school, Hassan attended school without breakfast and had to walk long distances to reach school because he could could not afford bus fare or more than one meal a day.
