About
"I last had a decent school life before the passing on of my mother in January 2010", says Trevor. Trevor is the last born in a family of 6. His father passed away in 2005 from the HIV/AIDS pandemic, leaving behind his ailing wife (Trevor's mother) who later succumbed to the disease in January 2005. All of his four brothers have finished secondary school, but none are formerly employed; three are doing menial jobs in South Africa, while the other one, who finished form four in 2009 is still searching for a job in Harare. Trevor's sister is married and has moved out of the family home.
Meanwhile, Trevor is living alone and is surviving on handouts from well wishers. Trevor cannot afford his school uniforms. Last year, he was enrolled in the government Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM), a government initiative aimed at supporting less privileged kids through providing assistance. The program is not being implemented this year, so Trevor is afraid that this will compromise his dream of becoming a university professor.
