About

Lorena's spirit and determination are remarkable. In 2009, she had to drop out of school because her family could not pay to send her to high school. She did not lose hope, however, and after she was chosen as one of the first Few for Change scholars, she was able to return to school to pursue her dream of becoming a math teacher. During her first year with the program she was again forced to leave school for family reasons, but she did not let that deter her from her studies. She had her teachers send her work home to her and finished the year with fantastic grades. Lorena is a wonderful example of the strength and perseverance of the Few for Change students.

My name is Lorena Carpintero. My community is Hato Rincón. and I am still looking for a school. My favorite subject is math and the most difficult for me is Spanish. I have eight sisters and four brothers. My favorite activities are listening to music and walking by the river. My fear is that because of a personal or health problem, I will not be able to continue studying. My message today is that I am proud of this project, which has been a very important help to me. I hope that God blesses you and keeps you and that you stay healthy and can help more people.
