About

At the age of seven, Lina was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. It was not until ten years later when she became 17 years old, she direly needed surgery and it was finally performed successfully with the funding and support from Little Red Scarf Alliance (www.littleredscarf.org). After surgery, Lina took a year leave of absence to recover and to restore. Now she is back to school as a sophomore student and in good health. Lina's father worked in Ningxia in 2009 as a migrant worker. One day, the rope at the job site suddenly snapped and her father fell down from the crane, causing serious injuries to the head and waist. Now, he can only do some simple farm work. Lina's mother suffers from rheumatoid disease, can not take any real job either. Her brother is 15 years old this year and attended a middle school in the neighboring village.

Dear Gao Lina,

I am so touched by your story and I would love to be able to help you. Keep on staying positive and study hard!

Sincerely,
Macee A. Miller
Recently I’ve been a little busy, for there happened something unfortunate that my father’s foot was injured. I feel bad and worry about him. Fortunately, it’s not serious and stitches can be taken out 15 days later. Now we are taking good care of him. But I’m still very upset that Father becomes old and he still has to work hard for the family. And now he suffers from the pain. As a daughter, I could do nothing to help but spend money. I really couldn’t understand why disasters wrap around my father while my parents are nice and kind-hearted. We don’t pursuit a luxury life but only wish all my family safe and sound.
And I wish all the kind-hearted people well.
