About

Qiming was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when he was 3 years old. However, because of the lack of funds, he was left untreated until the age of 14. On his way to school, Qiming needs to climb a small hill, but because of the severity of his condition, it poses a great challenge to him and always falls behind his classmates. Sometimes he even has to ask his classmates to help him carry his bag. In 2009, his mother lost her life to cirrhosis. In order to afford her treatment, the family took out a high-interest loan of 30,000 RMB. His sister married in 2010, leaving only Qiming and his father to look after each other. His father does carpentry to make a living. Due to an earthquake, the family home has been left in ruins, and Qiming's father only has his daughter's dowry left to repay their debts and repair part of their home.

Dear aunts and uncles:
How are you these days? Hello! I am Qiming. I am a student of Grade 5 of Primary School. I and my father tick together and help each other in difficulties. My school is far away from my home, it has 1 kilometers long and I need to climb a hill to get to the school. When I was ill, I always fell behind others. Now my disease is cured and I can walk together with my friends. My friends say that I gets more fat. Thanks for the new heart which given by the uncles and aunties of LRS. I also get the book fee from you. Teachers tell me that I have a good luck and my classmates begin to admire me. My father tells me that I must study hard and that will make you more happy.
Best Regards,
Dong Qiming
Go Dong! Be strong! We have grandkids your age learning to read and write and make a better world! mike and marty
