About

Only after undergoing a school medical examination at the age of 11 was she diagnosed with congenital heart disease. In September 2008, Wenjuan's father suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage, severely impairing his eyesight and causing partial paralysis. Wenjuan's mother also suffered a fall early July this year, seriously injuring her head. Now, both parents require constant care. Her eldest brother lost his life to a mental disease in 2004; the family spent 20,000 RMB attempting to cure him. Her second brother got married in 2006 and already has 3 children of his own that need taking care of, whilst her third brother works a part-time job. Wenjuan has now stopped attending school in order to look after her parents. Her second brother is unable to leave home to find a job, and is only able to take up temporary positions to help out with the costs.

Dear aunts and uncles:
How are you these days?
My name is Wenshui. I live in Tianshui. I was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when I was 11. My mother and my father was shocked and then cried when they heard the news. We did not have enough money to do the surgery since my family was in a very poor condition. My parents were old and my brothers also had their own families. All of them added to the pressure of our family. Sometimes, I very much hated myself, because it was I that led to quarrels between my brothers and their wives. I disturbed their life. However, misfortunes never come singly. My father paralysed on one side of his body due to the cerebral hemorrhage. My mother slipped on the ground and severely injured her head. I had to drop out of school and I thought my most important task these days was to take good care of them.
My brothers got to know by chance that the earlier the age is, the smaller the risk for a congenital heart disease patient will be. For this reason, they started to borrow money for me. At this helpless moment, the Little Red Scarf not only helped my family to raise money, but also encouraged me spiritually. My father and my mother were so happy and moved that they could not control their tears. It was kind of sweet tears. Here, I want to show my gratitude to the Little Red Scarf. It is she who gives me a new heart. It is she who helps me to go to school again. It is she who lightens my family.
Wish all of you good health!
Best Regards,
Li Wenjuan
Good luck
