Mary Joy is the first in her class. Her adopted mother, a laundry woman, strives to give Mary Joy the best she can offer. When Mary Joy was only a toddler, her mother would borrow books from neighbors and her landlady. She would read to her in Filipino. She taught her how to read in Filipino as well. When Mary Joy discovered how to tackle difficult words, she began to read on her own. From then on, there was no looking back for Mary Joy. She has performed very well in her academics and competed in inter-school contests. She is very studious. Mary Joy has big dreams of becoming an engineer someday.
