Dorcus is a day-school student at Mbaani High School. She is the second born child in a family of four. She joined form 2 at Mbaani secondary school in October 2011. Before joining Mbaani secondary school she was in Mitamboni Girls secondary school but dropped out of school due to lack of fees in June 2011. Dorcus has been staying with her grandparents since she was young and they have been a source of encouragement to her. Her mother is single and earns a living through doing casual labor.
