Hi students,

I think I should introduce myself to you first. My name is Ying and I live in Taiwan now. For the past five years, I was in California and joined the TSF. I am glad that I can meet you here, read your story, and write journals to you.

I am a mother of a four-year-old son. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my family and my friends. I like to read novels as well. I work in a non-profit organization that helps consumers solve problems and get their rights back.

I will keep writing journals to you and you are welcome to write to me anytime. I hope you all enjoy your new semester.

Best Regards,
Ying
Hi students,

Your new semester has started for a couple weeks and I hope you all enjoy it.

Do you have any plans or wishes in the new semester? Please write them down in your journals. For example, you can say....I want to be the top three students in my class....I want to help my friends.....or I want to read three books about biology(if you are interested in biology)

Every month, we can review the progress of your plan and try to make it work.

I hope you all have a wonderful semester and your plans will work out and dreams will come true.

Best Regards,
Ying
Hello Jonathan,

It is so great and wonderfull to hear about iceland.
Hopeful you and your family you enjoyed alot.

I like of the things you wrote but mosquito penetrate to my brain.
I hate mosquito, here in Tanzania there are different seasons in a year.
During hot season there are so many mosquitoes and during a night they sing a bad song like wuuuuuh wuhhhhh.
I hate that and were requred to use a mosquito net.
But during winter the life is so cool without mosquito.

Have a blessed day
Hello,

How have you been? As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on another successful academic year.
For fun, I’d like to share with you some interesting facts about a country that I visited with my family recently and liked it very much.
This nation is a mountainous island called Iceland located in the North-Atlantic ocean close by the Arctic Ocean. The name Iceland may not be all that appropriate because although 10% of Iceland is covered by glaciers, it has a surprisingly mild climate and countless geothermal hot-spots and hot springs. It was one of the last places on earth to be settled my humans. There are some fun facts about this country that I thought you might find amusing:
1) Iceland’s revenue from whale watching from tourists exceeds any income from whaling.
2) Mosquitoes do not exist in Iceland. For this reason alone, I love this country :)
3) The Icelandic police don’t carry guns. Crime in Iceland is very low and violent crime is practically nonexistent.
4) Because the country is so safe, they have not had to build more jails in years. As a result there is a waiting list up to 3 months to be admit to jail :)
5) Around 85% of Iceland's electricity and heating comes from hydroelectric power and geothermal water.
6) They are very proud to be the “greenest” country in the world with virtually no pollution.

I hope you will use Rachel-Pi to check out this country and their images.
Have a wonderful summer!

Jonathan Gilbert

I am excited to participate in the organization and fulfill my desire to communicate and work directly with the students. Please feel free to send me a note to get to know each other and to share some stories and some school and life experiences. I look forward to hearing from you. Take good care.

Feeling sad,
With all The School Fund team.
Students at MMM center in Tanzania and other teachers we are all feeling very sad because one among the students of the school fund(John Medo) passed away on the bus accident on 28 of March this year.
He was like a brother to us, we also spent some time with him and we real love him.
It is unbelievable for some times but we keep on praying for him so that God may give him an everlasting peace in heaven.
I will always remember you because you make part of my life to be god with quality education and
better life.
We real loved him but God love him more,
R.I.P JOHN
How grateful and thankful we are!!
As one among the students of The School Fund i want to say thank you very much for what you have done in our computer library at Ummu salama (MMM centre) for buying more computers so as we can journal and we can communicate with different people around the world, and we can share ideas economically, politically and socially.
Before i was empty head and know nothing about computer but through The School Fund now i learn many things which are so helpful in my studies and my life in general.
Through those computers we can study very hard by searching materials through Rachel Pi and internet.
We thank you very much and may God bless you forever.
Hello every one!
I hope your doing great with your life.
To day i want to share with you about transport in plants.
In plants like in animals there are vasicular tissues used to transport materials.
In animals body there is blood vessels but in plants there is phloem and xylem.
Phloem is used to transport food from site of photosynthesis to the site of use or storage.
Xylem is used to transport materials like water and mineral salts to the photosynthetic area for food to be manufactured.
It is very important for plants to manufacture its own food for its survival.
plants store food in form of starch but it use it when broken down to form glucose the simplest form that the plant can utilize to release energy.
Here is a picture of Hibiscus flower which is one among the flowers that student in my school use it frequently during research.
To Jenny,

How happy i am to get back your response,
it is okay if it takes long time because some time you may have to deal with other important things.
I take ride with motorcycle few times, and riders are needed to wear helmet if they did not they are responsible.
What about general election in your country?
I heard that this year you will conduct a general election to get new president.
What do you think about it?
What do you expect mainly from your coming president that Obama did not perform it well?
What are things that you are not going to forget about Barack Obama?
what kind of president do you need for your country?
I heard about Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton scandals, what do you know about them?

I wish you a good day

Dear Elizabeth,
It is always a joy to read your journal. Sorry about the delay for my response. Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year one came after the other. Time flies when you have fun. Now that everybody is back to the routine life. You are busy study again, I am sure you will do very well with your exam and get promoted to the university of your dream for journalism.
Talking about motor cycle, it is such a great invention. It is a major leap from bicycle. It is a much affordable transportation in comparison with car. Even now a day It is still widely used. However as you pointed out many accident tragedies. Rider has to pass basic traffic rule test to get a license. Traffic law mandates rider and passenger to wear helmet, is it the same over there? Since motorcyclist rides along side with cars, whenever there is an accident, it always turns out to be deadly. Traffic education is important, however it does not stop people drive irresponsibly. In Taiwan, public transportation like city bus is very popular and convenient. But there is still a ton of motorcycles. In America, cars is the major transportation since very little bus routes available. I don't use motorcycle in Taiwan nor in America, for a very trivial reason I CAN'T RIDE A BIKE. Ha ha!

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
