Student Bio

Qiming was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when he was 3 years old. However, because of the lack of funds, he was left untreated until the age of 14. On his way to school, Qiming needs to climb a small hill, but because of the severity of his condition, it poses a great challenge to him and always falls behind his classmates. Sometimes he even has to ask his classmates to help him carry his bag.

In 2009, his mother lost her life to cirrhosis. In order to afford her treatment, the family took out a high-interest loan of 30,000 RMB. His sister married in 2010, leaving only Qiming and his father to look after each other. His father does carpentry to make a living. Due to an earthquake, the family home has been left in ruins, and Qiming’s father only has his daughter’s dowry left to repay their debts and repair part of their home.
