About

My father died 2015. Through his death I learnt many things in life. My life is totally changed because my mother is unable to provide our basic needs. My dream is to be a doctor so that I can save people's life. I see many people suffering while no rich people willing to give a helping hand. If I fulfill my dream and get money I will not behave like those rich people who don't care the needy. The moment I felt so proud of my self is the day I passed my Grade 7 National Examination. I thank The School Fund for Choosing me in the Scholarship program. I promise to study very hard and achieve my dream.

hello fam

so today i would like to share with you something about the book i have read, its called The Power Of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

One of the lessons I learned from Victor E. Frankl’s classic Mans Search for Meaning is that once we find meaning, happiness is not far behind. In The Power of Positive Thinking Norman Vincent Peale points out that we can choose to be happy. However, as with creating an inflow of new thoughts that is easier said than done. One of the strategies Frankl talks about is finding meaning in every situation. There is a reason behind all of the decisions we’ll make. Therefore we need to focus on the positives. Even if the circumstances that we’re in are less than ideal. This book taught me that we ultimately have control over our outcomes.

The most impactful chapter for me was 8: I Don’t Believe in Defeat. The title alone sends a strong message. Peale first instructs the reader to eliminate defeatist thoughts. “If you are thinking thoughts of defeat, I urge you to rid yourself of such thoughts, for as you think defeat you tend to get it”. I found the message impactful. The quote is very impactful for me because It takes me back to when I played basketball. In sports, you need to have the irrational confidence that you’re going to win. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers would not have been the first team in NBA history to come back in the NBA finals down 3–1 without believing they could. Similarly, Apple would not have beat IBM in the PC wars without internal belief.

However, there will be obstacles when achieving your goals. Obstacles are movable objects. So why do we tend to give these obstacles more weight than they should have? There has never been a challenge that we’ve faced that someone else in human history hasn't also faced. Throughout your journey, we can expect to encounter obstacles. This book has shown me how to reshape how I think about obstacles as challenges, and to look for solutions to my challenges instead of adopting the mindset of defeat.

“ The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” Altering the thoughts that flow through your mind is easier said than done. It requires awareness and mindfulness. In this chapter, Peale describes why we need to have a constant inflow of new thoughts. We’re able to think our way to failure and unhappiness. Because we’re able to think our way to failure and or success wouldn’t it be wise to choose to think about success?

Every success ever obtained started with a thought. For example, what if there was a personal computer with graphical user interfaces? Or what if there were a way where people could rent out their homes to travelers? Do these ideas sound familiar? Not only can thoughts create ideas that lead to billions of dollars in value, but they can also improve your life.
If I want to change my circumstances, I need to start by changing my thoughts. Think differently, and the results will follow. We must think of things of how they should be. Begin executing with that thought in mind, and you’ll achieve what you want. Believe and succeed.

I want to touch on creating happiness as my final thought because that is the state of mind we all aim to achieve. We can choose to be happy. If I’m ever having difficulty making that choice, I look to find meaning in what I’m doing. For example, a simple “chore” such as cleaning my apartment can be upgraded from a “chore” to an activity that creates joy in my life when I change my mindset to one of gratitude. Instead of doing a “chore,” I am honoring my living space by tidying up. I am grateful to have this clean space. When I find meaning in every day moments, my life is richer, and when I focus on the positives, I become even more powerful.

Thank you
Fahdy.
Hello everyone! i hope your all doing marvelously, because am feeling great. its just that things are very quite interesting in this side since i have been exposed to more higher education and more knowledge am gaining day by day
Today these are things am about to share with you guys i hope it might be helpfully.

When someone needs help, many of us pull out the cash. While giving money is good, there are other ways of helping. The purpose of this article is to prod you into thinking on a wider scale. Here are 10 ways you can help others as well as yourself through sharing.
1.  Experience: What do you know that could help someone else? Is someone you know just beginning to do what you’ve already done? How about sharing that knowledge?
2.  Possessions: The next time you clean out your closet or garage, don’t throw away those items you no longer use or need. Donate them to a charitable organization.
3.  Attention: If you want to help someone feel important, share your attention. Focus on what the person is saying and really listen. Most of us just want to be heard.
4.  Appreciation: Help yourself by being generous with your appreciation of what you have, where you live, what you do and with whom you do it with. You may have to look closely to find what it is you appreciate, but it’s there.
5.  Pain: Why would you share your pain? If you keep it to yourself, it will wear you down. Sharing your pain with someone you trust is the quickest way to heal and move on in life.
6.  Encouragement: Share your gift of encouragement. Years from now you may hear how your words were just what the person needed to keep on going. Dale Carnegie once said, "Abilities wither under criticism; they blossom under encouragement."
7. Time: Even though “time-saving” devices surround us, most of us have less available time than ever before. Being generous with our time is probably the most difficult, but it can be one of the most valuable assets we can share.
8.  Books: Do you have books or magazines you won't read any more? Why not donate them to a local charity or the local library and let others enjoy them as well?
9.  Smile: When you share a smile with someone else, it is often infectious. There is an anonymous quote that says it best: "A smile confuses an approaching frown."
10.  Quotes: Who doesn't love to hear a great quote every now and then? "Short sentences drawn from long experiences." Miguel de Cervantes
THANK YOU.

Hello TSF family, hope your all doing fine. Today i would like to share with you something very interesting i hope you will find it more interesting as i did. It is about a bacteria that can fight cancer more effectively.
Three types of microorganisms, one of which refers to bifidobacteria, had a positive impact on the results of melanoma treatment. Scientists came to this conclusion by analyzing several hundred stool samples of cancer patients undergoing therapy. The study can be useful in developing new medical technologies to combat cancer and improve the quality of life of patients. The results of the study, supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), were published in the journal mSystems.

In recent years, immunotherapy has been increasingly used to treat cancer - an approach in which patients activate their own immune response against the tumor through the introduction of special drugs. This method is safer than radiation and chemotherapy, as it does not require irradiation of the body and a large number of aggressive drugs. However, it is not easy to destroy the neoplasm by immunotherapy, as cancer cells "depart" from the action of the human immune system with the help of special molecules, which are called immune response control points. These molecules are located outside the membrane, so they interact with the cells of the immune system, "consuasing" them that the tumor does not pose a danger to the body.

In order to target the immune system to fight the tumor, doctors block control points with special indigitor substances, thereby depriving cancer cells of "disguise". However, studies have shown that this type of cancer control is not effective for all patients, moreover, in some it even causes severe autoimmune side effects. This can be explained by the fact that each person has an individual microbiome, that is, a set of bacteria in the intestines. They take part in metabolism, as well as affect the body's immunity, and therefore can affect the effectiveness of immunotherapy in the fight against cancer.

Scientists from the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for Physical and Chemical Medicine named after Yu. Min. Lopukhina (Moscow), ITMO National Research University (St. Petersburg) and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Moscow) analyzed the metagenomes of 680 stool samples from 449 patients undergoing immunotherapy for the treatment of melanoma. The authors took the data of these metagenomes from seven studies publicly available. After analyzing them, the researchers compiled a list of bacteria that potentially increased the effectiveness of treatment. The presence in the samples of three of them - Bifidobacterium adolescentis, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and Eubacterium rectale - in 85% of cases was combined with successful immunotherapy.

In addition, the authors identified biomarkers, that is, biological signs by which it is possible to predict how successful immunotherapy will be. They were bacterial genes, the presence of which in metagenomes correlated with effective treatment. It turned out that patients whose stool samples contained metabolic genes, that is, transformations of bacterial polysaccharides, fatty acids and other compounds vital for microorganisms, successfully passed immunotherapy. If the genes of pathogenic bacteria were present in stool samples, giving them resistance to antibiotics, the treatment was less effective.

"We identified three types of bacteria, which in 85% of cases were associated with successful cancer immunotherapy. One of them is a representative of bifidobacteria contained in dairy products and used in probiotics. This suggests that for more successful melanoma therapy, patients can be recommended to take probiotics that improve the condition of the intestinal microflora. The biomarkers we have identified can be used to develop diagnostic tests that will help predict the patient's reaction to immunotherapy," says the head of the project supported by the Russian Science Foundation grant, Evgeny Olekhnovich, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for Physical and Chemical Medicine named after Yu. Min. Lopukhina
Thank you.
Hello everyone!
Its quite a long time since i wrote a journal to you but that's because i had a very challenging time back then, well it was actually a bit of experience i had and for that am very much grateful i have been through.
Well i hope everyone is so much healthier than before and for that lets thank God the Almighty for his blessing that we are still breathing his air free of charge and we are still alive.
For the last two years since i graduated my O-level education i was seeking more knowledge (i still remember the promise i made to myself and to The School Fund that one day i will become a medical doctor). I joined highschool and i have been hustling so that i could acquire more knowledge for my goals and for that am gladly to inform you that i have achieved not less than 75% of my goals to become true and for that i truly would like to thank you TSF for the fundings you have granted me. Nothing can i say that will repay what you have done for me.
Thank you school fund team.
Your faithful
Fahdy.
Dear Students,

I love to collect wisdom from different sources that are meaningful to me.
Below are a few of my favorites that I would like to share with you:

1) When you master your emotions, you master your life
Anger. This is one emotion that is sure to pop up sometime during the day. How you deal with your anger says a lot about who you are as a person. How well do you manage your emotions? Do you have a harsh reaction if someone says something insulting to you? Anger can be a destructive emotion if not managed properly.

2) Respect other people’s opinions even when they differ from your own.

Conflict. It’s rare that two people agree on most topics. Conflict is everywhere. It happens at work, home, with family and friends. Disagreeing isn’t the problem (although most people think it is). The problem is not giving value to the opinions of others.

3) Experience The Joy Of Learning

Each time you learn something new you gain more knowledge and with more knowledge come more confidence. Learning helps us become more adaptable and flexible to new situations. Learning encourages us to be more creative and innovative in our thinking and we are therefore more comfortable with the unknown.
Reading books is a great way for us to learn. To fully embrace the joy of learning, never stop reading and searching for more knowledge.

4) Touch someone’s soul with your kindness

Random Acts of Kindness. It’s the little things in life that matter most. Hold a door, smile at people. Kindness does not cost much and it touches the soul of another person.

5) Speech is a powerful tool.

Your words. Watch your words carefully. They can be daggers or building blocks. You can crush the spirit of someone or make them feel like they can conquer the world. Taste your words before you spit them out. Words are your thoughts coming to life. It’s your choice.
What are your favorite quotes and wisdom to live by? I’d love to hear your thought on that.

Cheers,
Jonathan Gilbert
Dear Students,
I enjoy reading articles about life lessons and I would like to share with you some of my favorites. So here it is:
1. Be proud of who you are and not ashamed of how someone else sees you.
2. Always Be there. Be open. Be honest. Be kind. Be willing to listen, understand, accept, support, and forgive. This is what it means to love.
3. Life can still be beautiful, meaningful, fun, and be fulfilling even if things don’t turn out the way you planned.
4. Accept that you will never be perfect, life will always have challenges, and other people will sometimes disappoint you. Acceptance is the first step toward peace.
5. Never let success go to your head and never let failure go to your heart.
6. Always guard your head from your successes and your heart from your failures.
7. Your pain is an opportunity for you to learn about yourself.
8. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have with you.
9. Nobody’s perfect, so give yourself credit for everything you’re doing right, and be kind to yourself when you struggle.
10. You are not your struggles. You are the survivor who keeps moving forward in spite of them.
11. Life is what happens while we’re busy worrying about everything we need to change or accomplish. Slow down, get mindful, and try to enjoy the moment. This moment is your life.

Best,
Jonathan Gilbert
Dear Students,
I ran across a very interesting article about life lessons. I like it a lot and thought that you might enjoy reading it also. So here it is:
Life Lessons people most often learn too late in Life
1. Never compare your weaknesses to other people's strengths.
2. Own your life, or someone will own it for you.
3. We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.
4. If you accept your limitation, you go beyond them.
5. Comfort is the enemy of achievement.
6. Don't give others the power to control your emotion. Those are only yours and it is only for you to manipulate.
7. Victory introduces you to the world, but defeat introduces the world to you.
8. Don't rest after your first victory, because if you fail the second time, more lips will be waiting to say that your first victory was just luck.
9. Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves.
10. The person that you will spend the most time with in your life is yourself, so better try to make yourself as interesting as possible.
11. While you’re growing up, your parents are growing old as well. Therefore, try to spend as much as time with them while you can.

Best,
Jonathan Gilbert
Dear Students,

A few years ago I came across a list consisting of some habits that are good to get into. I have incorporated these good habits into my daily life and I’d like to share them with you. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

1. Sleep early, around 9pm - 10pm. After working hard through the day, your body and mind need refreshing. Rest them as soon as possible.
2. Wake up early, around 5am - 6am. Start your day early. That time is the best time for inspiration to come in. After wake up, face the sky and the sun through your window. You will be motivated.
3. Be independent. Do your tasks by yourself. Solve your problem by yourself. Don’t always depend on other people. This doesn’t mean you should not get help from others.
4. Say thank you. Always say those 2 words if you get help from others.
5. Reading. Motivation and inspiration comes from what your eyes scanning for.
6. Writing. Put down in words on things that come to your head. Try to write 1 article per day. Having a diary is also a good approach.
7. Walking. Let sport always get into your day. The simplest one is walking. Keep moving and stay healthy.
8. Meditate. Focus on what you are doing. Finish it first and move to the other one. Don’t do multitasking. You can also meditate by sitting calmly and paying attention to your breath.
9. Help other people. Help people as they need and you are capable of doing it.

Have a great week,
Jonathan Gilbert
Hello Students,

I came across a great short TED (stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design — features "ideas worth spreading) talk that I’d like to share with you. This talk is titled: Secrets of success in 8 words, 3 minutes by Richard St. John. The author and speaker conducted 500 interviews on the subject, pulling wisdom from successful TEDsters along the way. After absorbing as much as he could, St. John compiled eight powerful secrets of successful people. In this TED Talk, he shares those important success habits.
1. Passion
“Freeman Thomas says, ‘I'm driven by my passion.’ TEDsters do it for love; they don't do it for money.”
2. Work
“Rupert Murdoch said to me, ‘It's all hard work. Nothing comes easily. But I have a lot of fun.’ Did he say fun? Rupert? Yes!”
3. Get Good
“Alex Garden says, ‘To be successful, put your nose down in something and get damn good at it.’ There's no magic; it's practice, practice, practice.”
4. Push
David Gallo says, ‘Push yourself. Physically, mentally, you've got to push, push, push.’ You've got to push through shyness and self-doubt.”
5. Support (aka moms)
“Frank Gehry said to me, ‘My mother pushed me.’ ”
6. Serve
“A lot of kids want to be millionaires. The first thing I say is: ‘OK, well you can't serve yourself; you've got to serve others something of value. Because that's the way people really get rich.’ "
7. Ideas
St. John says there’s no magical secret to coming up with ideas, only a process of thinking. A few simple exercises will do the trick, such as:
• Listening
• Observing
• Being curious
• Asking questions
• Solving problems
• Making connections
8. Persistence
“Persist! Joe Kraus says, ‘Persistence is the number one reason for our success.’ You've got to persist through failure.”
If you have internet access at your library, below is the link to the talk if you’d like to watch the video presentation:

I enjoyed this talk and hope you do to 

Have a great week,

Dear Students,

This week, the US celebrated one of our largest holidays: Thanksgiving.
In the United States, Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day is a public holiday on the fourth Thursday in November. On this day, people remember the first American Thanksgiving, when the first European settlers had been taught how to grow food by the NativeAmericans, and they celebrated the successful harvest together.

For many of us, the meaning of Thanksgiving usually includes feasting, four-day weekends, football games, floats, family reunions, or a forerunner to Christmas festivities. The “first Thanksgiving,” however, was neither a feast nor a holiday, but a simple gathering. Following the Mayflower’s arrival at Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620, the Pilgrims suffered the loss of 46 of their original 102 colonists. With the help of 91 Indians, the remaining Pilgrims survived the bitter winter and yielded a bountiful harvest in 1621. In celebration, a traditional English harvest festival, lasting three days brought the Pilgrims and natives to unite in a “thanksgiving” observance.

This year, I celebrated Thanksgiving with a very nice dinner with my family with traditional food such as Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc..

Do you have a tradition similar to ours in your country? I’d love to hear about it.

Best,
Jonathan

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
