The last year was very difficult because we were studying online. For me the best way to learn is in class because you can see your teachers and your friends and work with them. I also feel impatient - this is my last year at school and I am keen to go on to further training and then be able to help my family.
This term has been more difficult because we had to do more homework as well as the lessons online. I had some problems with maths as I couldn't understand the teacher, but I think I've done alright in all the other subjects. One thing I'm pleased about is that I've learnt to teach myself about topics that I did not understand. I thought I wouldn't pass these subjects but in the end I managed to do this by teaching myself. Thank you.

    Kenya

Matata is a daring young boy who believes that success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable. He is the last born in a family of four. His parents are unemployed and largely depend on subsistence farming, which has been negatively affected by frequent severe droughts. Most of the rural roads in his village are very impassable and this has pushed him towards achieving his dream of becoming an engineer. Since Matata was a young boy, he has always liked playing football not only at home but also in school and he was the goalkeeper for his school team.
