The School Fund TZ carries on the original mission of The School Fund by working directly with schools in Tanzania. Local staff provides scholarships to students with financial need, academic promise, a good work ethic, and a desire to give back to their communities.
Asha attends Vdzungwa A-level School. The most difficult part of my life before getting funding from The School Fund was after my daddy left. This was a difficult experience because before my daddy left us, my parents raised me and met my basic needs, like school fees and food. My mum alone did not have the ability to pay for my basic needs, especially for school fees and other materials. This made me feel bad and fail in my studies. I am very thankful to The School Fund because they help me improve my performance. They are like my parents which makes me smile always. And the thing I learned from this difficult experience is how to live with a single parent. In my life I dream of being a lawyer. To make my dream come true, I will study hard and follow the ways of people who have already succeeded. The happiest moment in my life is when I was chosen to be a School Fund member because it brings my school needs, which helps me achieve my goals. According to my future dream of being a lawyer, what I plan to give back to my community is to avoid abuse of human rights, especially women’s and children’s, by laws which protect women and children and provide education to all people because all people are equal. My thanksgiving goes to all donors for the care and the love that they show to me. May God bless them and give them long life to see my success because I wish to help other people who have the same problems as me to reach their goals.
School Year 2017
I faced difficulties for my school expenses like school uniforms, food and other equipment. Due to lack of these important needs, I was sent back home for some time. This affected my studies. I have a dream of being an engineer when I complete my education. This can be attained through studying hard, listening to my teachers and cooperating with my classmates. I am proud of being a form 1 student at Wel Wel secondary school because there are some who didn’t pass their standard 7 examination. The most interesting moment to me was when I passed the national examination. I am still doing well in my form 1 studies. I hope that four years from now I will be in A-level.
School Year 2018
My dream is to be a doctor because I saw a very bad accident. A man was knocked by car and died. From that moment I learnt to be careful when crossing the road. I feel proud of myself when I study hard, perform well, and my academic progress is good. I would like to tell others to study hard to achieve their ambition. Four years from now, I would perform well in my form 4 national examination.
School Year 2018
I am the first born of five children. What I am proud of in my life is that I passed the Standard Seven examinations and was selected to join Form 1 at my secondary school. When I was in Standard 2, I was sick and ranked last in my class. After my parents took me to the hospital for treatment, I went back home to continue my school. I made a big effort and by Standard 4, I was #1. I have maintained this number ever since. The poverty of my family is my greatest difficulty. It is hard to feel good at school when I sometimes lack food and books and have only one pair of old clothes. I would like to be a doctor one day to help people with sickness. To make this come true, I will study hard.
School Year 2018
I live with my both parents. My mother is peasant farmer and my father is shopkeeper. I have one young brother and one young sister. My young sister is in standard 2 and my young brother in in standard 1. My dream is to be a doctor because I want and love to help and treat sick people. I would like to save the lives of people who are sick. I am going to get there by I studying hard and knowing this is the dream of my life. The happiest moment in my life is when I passed my national exam of standard 7 and got grade A. I study at Iringa Girls Secondary School. I love this school because it teaches many things which I do not know, and I love my teacher. Thanks the School Fund for the scholarship. It helps my mother and father to pay my school fees and other school items.
