About

My name is Bertha. I live with my mother who depends on small farming. She is unemployed. The difficult experience I have had already is with financial support. I could not come to my school at the beginning of the year because of the school fees, about One Million two hundred thousand. But this challenge makes me add more effort in learning so as to perform well. From this I leant that through education I will achieve a better future. My dream is to become a teacher. Everyone in a professional job was taught by teachers. It is also a job that will make someone a good reputation in the country. I was very happy to be chosen to join Endarofta secondary school. I hope four years from now I will be in form 6.

Hi every one there,
It has been so long without passing my greetings to you just because I have been ill for some days but I thanks GOD because am now doing good. I also thank him because I hope that you are all fine under his help.
Today I want just to share with you about a lesson I got when I was sick. The lesson is that In this life we have to leave well with every one in our community because we don't know who will help us in future life. I have gotten this lesson because all the people am leaving with have been so much good to me until when I got well with my health condition.
May the GOD bless you all and bless what you does always
Hi Students!

I just read all the journal entries I have received since October. Such wonderful letters! I am so impressed by how mature and articulate you have become. I’m realizing that I have now been reading some of your journals for 5 years. When I look at your photos, I don’t recognize the child I first knew. You are teenagers now.
I especially love the stories that some of you told in your journals. Moral tales, I call them.

So congratulations for working so hard. I’m hoping you will achieve your goals, go to a university if you want, and become productive members of your community, and able to help others as you have been helped.

I am enjoying retirement. My age of 76 is bringing on a bit of health problems, like arthritis, but I keep active physically and don’t let it stop me from doing what I love to do.

I read a lot. I travel. I go to jazz concerts in San Francisco. I would love to return to Kenya and Tanzania for a visit. I’d love to visit your school. Maybe it will happen. Who knows?

So keep up the great efforts. I know it can’t be easy, but this is such a wonderful opportunity.

Very fondly, Susan
