Mutheu is the second born in a family of three. Her father abandoned the family and her mother has remained to be the sole breadwinner. She does casual jobs to cater for her family basic needs. Davis is the second born in a family of six. He completed his primary school education and passed very well in his national examinations. His parents deserted the family and he and his siblings are currently living with their aged grandmother who is unable to work. Davis is a determined young boy who wants to be a meteorologist to fulfill his desire of understanding the earth’s atmospheric phenomena as well as uplift his family from poverty. The encouraging words from his grandmother have propelled him to pursue his dreams and he believes that there is light at the end of the tunnel. He likes playing football during his free time.

Purity is the first-born in a family of two. She has been staying with her grandmother who is struggling to cater for her needs. Her mum and dad separated and her mum went to source a livelihood in town and has never returned for the past five years. Purity is however determined and she believes that education will set her at a better place to break the poverty cycle in her family. She believes in being hardworking, committed, patient, kind and focused. She would want to be a pilot when she grows up.

Gabriel is a determined young boy who believes that success does not come on a silver platter. He is the third born with three sisters and one brother. His parents are unemployed and only depend on casual jobs to cater for the needs of their family. Regardless of him sleeping without food, he toiled so hard to pass his examinations. Gabriel believes that obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal and he is very insistent on his dream of becoming an engineer to help his community. He loves cycling as a hobby.

Anna is an uninhibited girl who believes that there is a price for working hard. She is the last born in a family of three; two sisters and one brother. She lives with her parents who are not employed. Anna has been working hard and has always remained focused towards achieving her goal of becoming a lecturer at the university. She wants to end poverty in Kenya by teaching and transferring skills to students at the university in different fields. She is a fan of reading novels about real life situations and how to overcome them.

Emmanuel is the only child in his family. His mother is a single parent and has abandoned Emmanuel leaving him with his grandparents. His grandmother is very sick and on a wheelchair. His grandfather who is unemployed, struggles to take care of his ailing wife and Emmanuel. Despite the challenges he faced, he beat all odds and emerged to be the top student in his school. Emmanuel aspires to be a nurse to take care of the sick people just like his grandmother. He believes in working smart; not hard. He enjoys playing football.

Kaluki is the fourth born in a family of five. Her mother deserted the family and she and her siblings are currently living with her aged grandmother who is currently unable to work. The family depends on well-wishers to cater for their needs. Kaluki completed her primary education in 2019 and was unable to join secondary school due to lack of school fees. She decided to repeat grade eight with great hopes of joining high school. Despite the challenges, she emerged the best student in her school. She aspires to be a cardiologist to save the lives of many. Kaluki believes that hard work pays. She loves singing.

Purity is a jovial and focused girl. She is the first born in a family of two. Her father passed on leaving behind her mother who is ailing from leukemia and unable to perform heavy tasks. Purity enjoys reading. She was Kenya Connect 2020 queen reader having read 264 books in a span of three months. She aspires to be a lawyer to help fight injustices in the country. She strongly believes that hard work never goes unrewarded
