Grace is the third born in a family of four. Her mother abandoned her with her aged father and went with her three siblings. Her father has been supporting her through doing casual jobs but his old age and ailment has made it difficult for him to provide for the family. Grace has been receiving support from her teachers who have gone the extra mile to cater for her needs and school levies. Every evening Grace has to cook for the family and do the house chores. Purity is the first-born in a family of two. She has been staying with her grandmother who is struggling to cater for her needs. Her mum and dad separated and her mum went to source a livelihood in town and has never returned for the past five years. Purity is however determined and she believes that education will set her at a better place to break the poverty cycle in her family. She believes in being hardworking, committed, patient, kind and focused. She would want to be a pilot when she grows up.

Emmanuel is the only child in his family. His mother is a single parent and has abandoned Emmanuel leaving him with his grandparents. His grandmother is very sick and on a wheelchair. His grandfather who is unemployed, struggles to take care of his ailing wife and Emmanuel. Despite the challenges he faced, he beat all odds and emerged to be the top student in his school. Emmanuel aspires to be a nurse to take care of the sick people just like his grandmother. He believes in working smart; not hard. He enjoys playing football.

Christine is the firstborn in a family of two. Her mother is a single parent and the sole breadwinner of the family. Christine completed her primary education in 2020 and was unable to join secondary school due to lack of school fees. She decided to repeat grade eight with great hopes of doing much better. And joining high school. Despite the challenges, she emerged the best student in her school. She aspires to be a neurosurgeon so she could save the lives of many. Christine believes that winners never quit and quitters never win. She loves reading and telling stories

Felix is the last born in a family of four. He stays with his grandmother. Their father abandoned them when he was 10 years old. His mother has been struggling to single handedly take care of the family. He loves reading and playing football and wants to be a university professor.

Sabina is the last-born child in a family of three. She lives with her ailing mother and her sisters in a rented house in the Wamunyu market as they have no land. Her mother is a tailor, but her health condition has always deterred her from working for long hours. She is the only bread winner, and with two children in school the burden of paying school fees has overwhelmed her. Sabina is very bright and despite the challenges in her family she is determined to succeed in life. She dreams to be a surgeon in future to help the needy in the society. To her determination knows no barrier. She loves dancing.

Felix is a third born in a family of six children. His parents abandoned the family leaving the burden of bringing up the family to their aged grandmother who is ailing and can't work. Felix could sometimes miss school and perform casual work to cater for food. Food has always been inadequate in their family. They get help from well-wishers. Due to lack of source of light at night, Felix used to study at night at neighbors' homestead. He accredits his success to being obedient, God fearing and consulting the teachers. He is very determined to become a teacher to teach students and help the community. He enjoys playing football. He believes that he will never die until he dies.

Muthini is the third born in a family of six. Her father is a drunkard and abusive and has neglected the family leaving the mother the only sole bread winner. She currently does casual jobs and the burden of taking care of the large family has overwhelmed her. Muthini is very determined and aggressive to achieve her dreams and become a doctor in future. Doing thorough revision and consulting with her teachers earned her a trump card. She likes reading storybooks and believes that hard work pays and never goes unrewarded. Muthini loves reading storybooks.

Nzilani is the second born in a family of two. She lives with her aged grandmother and her mother, who is mentally deranged. Since her family does not have any breadwinner, Nzilani has been supported by community members, well-wishers and teachers who were her cheerleaders. Nzilani dreams of being a teacher to help improve the quality of life in society. She enjoys reading the Bible and storybooks. She believes she can do anything in God's power since God is the giver of everything.
