Lúcia was born in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on April 14, 2006, where she lived with her parents. She is a brave girl who likes to study, and to play with her friends “jumping rope” and “neca”. In her free time, she reviews school subjects and helps her mother with the house duties. Lúcia has 2 sisters and 2 brothers, they are all studying in primary education. Lúcia’s father died on October 29, 2010, due to illness. He used to be a police officer. Lúcia, lives with her mother in their house that consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, and has an outside bathroom made of bags and no piped drinking water, which they buy at the neighbor's house. Her mother works in rice fields in the Inhamizua area. When there is no work in the fields, she buys dried fish, butter beans and tomatoes, and sells it at the local market. What she earns is not enough to sustain their day - to - day life. Lúcia’s preferred subject at school is Portuguese and she wants to become a Teacher. During 2020, due to COVID 19, the students had to study at home, going weekly to the school to buy brochures and copies of tests. Most of the kids could not afford it.

Fernando was born in Beira on February 24, 2010, where he lives with his mother 2 brothers and 1 sister. His father passed in 2011. Since September 2023 his mother is sick and can't work anymore. They rely on some neighbours whom she helps with small chores like washing clothes and at the end of the day they give her whatever they have to support the family. Fernando's favourite subject is Mathematics; he likes to play football with friends in his free time and helps his mother with housework. His dream is to become a mechanical engineer in the future to help his mother to have a better life.

Gress was born in Beira on July 31, 2011, where she lives with her mother, 1 sister and 2 brothers. Her father passed away in 2012, victim of illness. She likes to play with her friends and to help her mother with the housework. Her mother works as a domestic worker, nonetheless, what she earns is not enough to support the family. Gress's preferred subject is Portuguese and her dream is to be able to finish secondary school in order to proceed with her studies to become a medical doctor, to compete in the job market and have a decent life in order to help her family.

Victoria was born in Beira on July 4, 2010, where she lives with her mother, one sister and two brothers. Her father passed away in 2017, victim of illness. The mother works at a local market, and what she earns during the day is not enough to support her family. Her favorite subject its Mathematics. Victoria likes to play with her friends and helps her mother with the housework. She doesn't have a clear definition of which job she wants to learn once she finishes secondary school, maybe a nurse; But what she knows for sure is to work and help her mother to have a better life.

Helena was born in Beira on February 26, 2011, and lives with her mother and her 2 brothers. Her father passed away in 2016 due to illness. Helena likes to play with her friends and in her free time, she helps her mother with housework. Her mother sells different primary products in front of her house, and Helena often helps her there too. What they earn is not enough to support the family. Helena's preferred subject is Portuguese and her dream is to become a nurse, to compete in the job market and work to support her family.

Edmilson was born in the city of Vilankulo on January 1, 2011. He has 1 sister and 2 brothers. His father left the family in 2017 to go to South Africa to search for a better life, but never returned home. His mother tired of waiting, left Vilankulo to go to Beira to live with her mother. Edmilson likes to play football with friends and in his free time, he likes to help his mother. She works at the Dondo Baptist Church as an activist, nevertheless, what she earns is not enough to support the family. Edmilson's preferred subject is Portuguese and his wish is to become an accountant in order to find a job to support his family.

Fatima, was born on February 17, 2009 in Beira, where she lives with her mother, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her father passed away in 2018, victim of illness. Fatima lived with her mother and siblings in a rental house but, being unable to pay the rent, her mother built a house out of plastic bags and zinc on her land in the Inhamizua area, where there is no electricity and no drinking water. Fatima is a good student, likes to study, especially Biology and read books with her schoolmates. In her free time, she helps her mother and takes care of her younger siblings while her mother goes out to look for something to support the family. She would like to study to become a nurse in the future.

Elayne was born on May 7, 2011 in the city of Beira, where she lives with her mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Her father died in 2023, victim of illness. She likes to play rope with her friends and in her free time and helps her mother at home. She loves studying and her preferred subject is Portuguese. Elayne's dream is to become a lawyer and work to support her family. Her mother is selling little products in front of her home; this small business is not enough to support all the expenses of the family.
