Mercy lives with her 4 siblings and her aunt 's family of 6. She enjoys science and math. She would like to become a doctor when she grows up. 

Peris is a high-energy, happy 15 year old girl who lives with her mother and grandfather and siblings. She developed a fistula at age 13 when she was attacked by an unknown person. She joined Beyond Fistula and has rejoined school. She has advanced well and is especially good in her English classes. Mutheu is the fifth born child from a family of 6 children. Her parents rely on casual jobs to sustain the family. Despite being sent home due to school levies every now and then, she has remained resolved towards achieving her dream of becoming a teacher. Mutheu believes that knowledge is power and she wants to pass it to students to end illiteracy in the rural areas. She also wants to empower students to attain their dream careers and occupations so as to improve their livelihoods. During her free time, she likes to read novels.

Syongwa is the first-born child in a family of four. She lives with her grandmother together with her siblings. Syongwa has been working hard in school. She has remained focused in achieving her dreams. Despite the challenges she faced in her primary education she managed to score exemplary marks. Her grandmother has remained to be her encouragement to do the best in school. Due to poverty her mother neglected the children and left them with their grandmother. Syongwa dreams to be a journalist in future in order to advocate for the plight of girls especially orphans in the media. She believes that hard work never goes unrewarded.

Purity is a jovial and focused girl. She is the first born in a family of two. Her father passed on leaving behind her mother who is ailing from leukemia and unable to perform heavy tasks. Purity enjoys reading. She was Kenya Connect 2020 queen reader having read 264 books in a span of three months. She aspires to be a lawyer to help fight injustices in the country. She strongly believes that hard work never goes unrewarded

Valeria lives with her mother and older sister. Her father left the family when she was a baby, and does not provide any support. Valeria got very good grades last year and likes studying, particularly natural sciences. She also likes to read in her spare time and spends a lot of time playing with her two cats.

Emmaculate is the last born in a family of three; one sister and one brother. Her parents rely on subsistence farming for livelihood, which has been greatly affected by the changing climate. While in primary school, Emmaculate spent most of the time at home while the other students were at school. This was because of lack of finances to cater for some of the requirements at school. This did not stop her but instead propelled her towards achieving her dream of becoming a cardiologist in order to save lives. Her role model is Barack Obama and she likes his phrase of ‘Yes we can’. Moreover, she likes reading story books during her free time.
