Fernando was born in Sofala province. He is a very humble boy, does not have many friends and spends more time at home when he is not at school. His favorite hobby is listening to music at home. In 2012, the parents separated due to social problems. In 2013 his father died. He used to be a carpenter. After his father's death, Fernando’s mother abandoned him. His grandmother took care of him and then he moved to live with his aunty. The aunt has 2 children and does not make any activity that generates income to sustain the family. Her husband does little jobs in the construction field to help the family survive. When the uncle does not get a job, they may spend a day without a meal.

Aida was born in Nampula province. She is a very quiet girl, friendly, intelligent and likes to play with her friends of the same age in the neighborhood she lives. When the girl was 2 years old, her parents separated for social reasons. The father died in 2011, victim of disease. Even separated, the father helped to support his daughter while living with her mother in Nampula. After her father's death, the family moved to Beira and began to face many difficulties; even the mother having gotten a job as a cleaner, her earnings are not enough to pay the school expenses. As Aida is a very good student and hardworking, she deserves help for her dreams to become true.

Elton was born in Sofala province. He is a nice and intelligent child, and likes to play marbles with friends of his age. Elton’s father died in 2005. He used to be a guard. After his father's death, his mother remarried. Her husband would like to help but the business of selling second hand clothes is not of great sustainability, and the income is just enough to pay the rent and a minimum for the family to survive. Without help, his dream to follow up his studies may fall apart.

Florindo was born in Sofala province. He is very humble and loves to play with children of his age, especially playing football in the afternoon when returning from school. He is orphaned of parents. In 2008, his father passed away due to illness. He went to live with his mother in company of his older sister, and his newborn sister. In December 2011, his mother also died victim of illness; leaving the boy and two sisters alone. Florindo, along with his older sister, was adopted by the pastor of the church his mother used to attend, while his younger sister was only 2 years old and was adopted by another family that worships at the same church. As the pastor is of old age, he would like to finish his studies as quick as possible and learn a trade; his dream is to reunite his sisters together with him to take care of them. "

Enelda was born in Beira in 2001. She is very humble and nice, intelligent and kind. During her free time, she likes to braid her friends' hair, go to church and help her mother with housework. Her father, who was a tailor, passed away in 2007. Her mother earns a living selling fruit in the area where she lives, but has a chronic disease that requires regular medication. Enelda has 3 younger siblings who attend primary school. Together they live in a single room house that does not have running water or electricity.

Falece was born in the city of Beira in 2002. He is a cheerful, intelligent and studious boy. During his free time, he enjoys playing football with friends, and helps his mother with the housework in the company of his siblings. His father passed away in 2004. His mother buys and resells fresh fish to make a living. Falece has 2 siblings who both attend Secondary school. The older brother studies at night because during the day he works as a domestic servant to help his mother with the expenses of the house and his studies. The family lives in a two-room block house with no running water or electricity.
