Fina João was born in Beira in 2007. She lives in the Manga neighborhood with her grandmother, her twin sister and an older brother. Her father died in 2008 and her mother in 2013. Fina loves studying and her preferred subject is Portuguese. Her dream is to become a teacher, preferably at ASEM's JJT Manga Secondary School, to teach needy and vulnerable children and her family. She is a very nice and humble girl, always ready to listen. She never misses the madrassa and is always happy to help grandma who suffers from chronic back pain. Granny does little housework at the mosque, located 2 km away from home, which takes her about an hour to get there, where she earns about $15 (MZN 1000) per month, not enough to buy a bag of rice. The family's house is built with local material, has low-cost electricity and no piped drinking water that they have to buy @ 5 MZN / 20 liters.

Teresa was born in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on February 7, 2007, where she lived with her parents. They divorced in 2014 when she was 7 years old, due to social problems. Teresa, lives with her disabled father and her 2 brothers. The house consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, an outside bathroom and no piped drinking water. She has a good and intelligent behavior, likes to play with her friends and in her free time she likes to review school subjects and helps with the house duties. Her father is an upholsterer for sofa chairs and does his activities in the backyard of his house. What he earns with his work is not enough to support the family. Her preferred subject at school is History and she wants to become a Teacher. During 2020, due to COVID 19, the students had to study at home, going weekly to the school to buy brochures and copies of tests. Most of the kids could not afford it.

Egna is a cheerful, very funny and intelligent girl who likes to dance in her spare time. She is also part of the cultural group of the school where she studies. Enga lives with her grandmother who watches over her and her older brother. The family supplements the small income made from working in fields by renting out 2 rooms in their three-room home.

Enelda was born in Beira in 2001. She is very humble and nice, intelligent and kind. During her free time, she likes to braid her friends' hair, go to church and help her mother with housework. Her father, who was a tailor, passed away in 2007. Her mother earns a living selling fruit in the area where she lives, but has a chronic disease that requires regular medication. Enelda has 3 younger siblings who attend primary school. Together they live in a single room house that does not have running water or electricity.

Joana was born in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on May 12, 2005, where she lived with her parents. She is humble and intelligent and likes to play with her friends and talk about the classes that they started and did not finish in 2020 due to CoVid19. In her free time, she reviews school subjects and helps her stepmother with the house duties.Joana’s mother died on April 18, 2018, victim of illness, while working as a domestic servant in the Maruti. Joana lives with her father who does little jobs of civil metalwork in the area where he lives. What the father earns is not enough to provide for the day - to - day living. She has 2 sisters and 2 brothers; 3 siblings attend primary school and 1 brother is not yet of school age. The house where she lives consists of 2 bedrooms and 1 living room, has an outside bathroom and no piped drinking water. Her preferred subject at school is Agriculture and Joana’s dream is to become a teacher. During 2020, due to COVID 19, the students had to study home, going weekly to the school to buy brochures and copies of tests. Most of the kids could not afford it.
