Father and mother separated. Father is a drunkard who abandoned children to a jobless and homeless mother.

Agnes is the second born child in a family of six. Despite facing many challenges, she managed to emerge second top student in her school. Her poor background did not deter her from achieving her goal. She is very determined to succeed in life and become the first surgeon in her village. Her father is a woodcarver while her mother is a house wife. Due to lack of market for wood carvings her father has not been able to provide for the big family. This coupled with frequent droughts has seen the family lack basic needs like food. Agnes is very focused and believes that no man is limited in this world.

Nivea is fifteen years old from Uganda. Both her parents have low income. She comes from a family of nine children whereby she's the first born.She has both grandparents living. She got fistula when she was fourteen years old and stayed with it for one year before getting treatment. She's dry now. She is willing to learn, and she will like to become a nurse when she grows up. She likes playing football.

Jackline comes from a poor family where her parents struggle even to get food and therefore are not able to raise school fees.

Titus lives with his sibling and an old poor grandmother. He enjoys math and science and would like to be a doctor.

The family lives in abject poverty. Parents have no source of income.

Simon lives with his brother and unemployed mother. He loves science and social studies. He would like to become an agriculturalist some day. 

Matata is a daring young boy who believes that success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable. He is the last born in a family of four. His parents are unemployed and largely depend on subsistence farming, which has been negatively affected by frequent severe droughts. Most of the rural roads in his village are very impassable and this has pushed him towards achieving his dream of becoming an engineer. Since Matata was a young boy, he has always liked playing football not only at home but also in school and he was the goalkeeper for his school team.

Favour is a very bright girl who has been pegged back by consistent issues at home and lack of money to pay her school fees. She needs help to overcome these challenges.
