Utena supports secondary school & university students in Kenya.
Being born in a less fortunate family, my early life was not easy, and learning difficult at times. I am working hard to see my children have a better life, which is achieved in education. Having an education, one can get a nice (good) job or knowledge for self-employment. I feel good when I advise my children and obey (Listen). I prayed for my child in school for better results, and he has achieved them. God has answered my prayers. I prayed to God to help my children and to give them a better life. To change the community is by helping other needy children acquire education or knowledge, which can help them in the future.

I grew up in a poor family where basic needs were never guaranteed. My parents struggled to provide food, school fees, and clothing, so I learned responsibility at a young age. I often walked long distances to school and studied without proper materials. Sometimes I missed classes to help at home or find small jobs. These experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the value of hard work. Despite challenges, I remained hopeful and focused on education as a path to a better future. Living through hardship shaped my character and strengthened my determination to succeed in life every single day. The most difficult experience in my life was when my family could not afford school fees, and I had to stay home while others continued learning. It was painful watching my dreams feel delayed and uncertain. During that time, I learned the importance of perseverance, patience, and never giving up despite challenges. It also taught me to value education deeply and to work hard whenever I get an opportunity, knowing how easily it can be taken away. I felt especially proud of myself when I managed to return to school after a long break caused by financial struggles. Despite the challenges, I worked hard, caught up with my studies, and performed well in my exams. That moment showed me my strength, resilience, and determination to overcome obstacles and continue pursuing my dreams. The most memorable and happiest moment in my life was when I successfully completed my studies KCSE despite many challenges. Seeing my efforts pay off brought me great joy and pride. It was a special moment not only for me but also for my family, who had supported and believed in me throughout the journey. My dream is to pursue my education up to a Master’s degree and eventually reach PhD level. I aim to achieve this by working hard in my studies, seeking scholarships, and staying focused on my goals. I will remain disciplined, make use of every learning opportunity, and never give up despite challenges until I reach my academic dreams. After achieving my dream of reaching Master’s and PhD level, I will support my family by improving our living standards and ensuring access to education and basic needs. I will help my community by mentoring young people, supporting education initiatives, and creating opportunities for growth. I will also give back to WEF by contributing to its programs, sharing my experience, and supporting other students to achieve their dreams. If I had the power to change my country, Kenya, I would focus on improving access to quality education and creating more job opportunities for young people. I would also fight corruption and ensure equal distribution of resources so that everyone benefits. Strengthening healthcare and supporting small businesses would help reduce poverty and improve living standards across the country. Your beginnings do not define your future; your determination does. Every challenge you face is shaping you into a stronger, wiser person. Keep pushing forward, even when the path is difficult, because success is built through persistence and courage. Believe in your dreams, work hard every day, and never give up your story has the power to inspire change and create a better life for yourself and others.

My experience early in life depended on myself because my mother was sick. The most difficult experience was when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. The moment when I felt very proud of myself was when I passed my exams. The happiest thing in my life was when I passed my KCPE exams. I dream of being a physician. I can get there by putting more effort into my studies. After I reach my dream, I will relocate my family from a squatter land to a better place. I will build more schools in my area. If I had the power to change my country, I would improve the education system.
School Year 2026
Some of the experiences that I have incurred in my early life are like lack of school fees, being raised from a struggling family and also been rejected by friends due to my family status. The most difficult experience was lack of school fees and I learned that as long as you are focused in life, there is always someone willing to help you since that is the time I came across U-TENA Youth Organization. The moment I felt proud of myself was when I successfully got a scholarship from the World Education Fund. The happiest thing is to see myself doing well on my educational journey. My high-school life was excellent due to U-TENA Youth Organization support which played a major role in my success in KCSE. My dream is to become a professional teacher and I will get there by focusing on it and putting God first. After I achieve my dream, I will ensure that my family lives a happy life. I will also support the students in my community by giving them good quality education and to the WEF; I will always be willing to provide any support once called upon to do so. If I got the power to change my country, I would focus on education first and ensure each and every student receives good quality education.

I am a second born in our family and have seen what they go through especially my parents. They struggle hard to help me continue with my education. My father, who is a watchman, who is a tireless worker, stays all night in order to provide for us. Our mother, who is just a housewife and unable to provide for us financially. Despite all these, we have so far, made it through and I'm proud of passing my final exams with flying colors. My difficult Experience is during this period of my studies. I lacked enough funds to see me through. I have faced significant challenges as a result of this. My parents didn't have enough school fees and weren't capable of coming up with such an amount. Through these experiences, I have learned to save little amount I get. The proudest moment was when I emerged to have the best score in mathematics, even though it was a tough paper and later I was praised and gifted. But what I told myself is that this isn't the last time I will get such a score, I will continue to push harder. This gifting gesture made me to aim even higher than that. My most memorable and happiest thing is the time I scored a higher and better grade in my KJSEA assessment despite being in the pioneer class. But nobody, not even the teachers, knew what the assessment looked like, but I succeeded in the end. My dream is not what I want to become in the future but to become a better and great person by telling myself not to look back at yesterday, but to think about tomorrow for today has one zero (0) but tomorrow has three zeroes; thus, "tomorrow" determines my future. I need to amend the mistakes I have made and to overcome what comes my way. I also need to work not only hard but smart. To my family, I will become the game changer by relieving them of the financial burden I have seen them going through due to the lack of formal employment. I will help in many ways, such as providing support to the community by encouraging them never to lose hope in life no matter what they pass through, because the beginning always has an end. To WEF, as I am becoming a member, I would encourage young people to join the organization. I will always be one of those people who would support the organization in ways that I can. I will set up many organizations in the country to help those who are in need not to suffer what I went through. These organizations, such as WEF, will help students to continue with their education and later pursue their careers so as to reduce the suffering in the country making our country better. More people will be educated and everything will have a fresh start. "When the road gets tough, the tough gets going"

I had sweet tears in my eyes when I achieved 363 marks in my KCPE exam. Having no electricity, I had to use a lantern lamp to read which made me work hard in my secondary level where electricity is free. Joining high school (Form 1) due to lack of school fees. I learnt that I can complete my education through Gods guidance and well-wishers. When I passed my KCPE and being leading in my school. When I do exams and pass with flying colors. My dream is to be a pilot. I will word sweat and tears in my academics so as to achieve my dream. I will help my family with basic needs, my community and WEF those in need. I will improve the economy and ensure that things are done as per the constitution.
