Elector is a total orphan who lost her father in 1997 when she was only 2 years and mother in 2006. The family was forced to disintegrate when the grandmother who took custody of them also passed on. The siblings were forced by the death of the caregiving grandmother to live with different relatives. At the moment, she is staying with an overwhelmed aunty who is merely surviving on the proceeds of peasant farming. The aunty is also taking care of five other children. Two of Elector's siblings dropped out of school for lack of school fees. Elector hopes to become an Engineer when she completes school. She is however worried that her dreams might not be realized due to lack of school fees. She also hopes to be able to support her siblings.

Aaron lives with both his parents, his siblings and his one nephew. He now lives in Kabanana, just outside Ng'obe in a house made of mud with an iron roof. His house does not have electricity, or running water. Aaron helps out by fetching two 20 liter jugs of water for drinking, and three jugs for bathing and washing every morning, including washing plates and sweeping. His mother sells tomatoes and onions in the compound, but she is the only one bringing in money to their family. Aaron likes to read and play soccer in his spare time. Aaron likes school very much because learning new things brings him joy. He was inspired to become a doctor when his mom got very sick with Malaria, so he studies hard so he can one day help sick people. Aaron says that having a sponsor gives him hope that he will be able to finish school and reach his dreams. Aaron is third in his class at Ng'ombe PTA School.

Muniratu writes: "My father, who is now deceased, was a peasant farmer and security man and my mother is a petty trader. I am presently living with my maternal grandparents who have, since the death of my father, been responsible for the upkeep and education of three of the five of the children. One other sibling lives with a sister of my father and another one with my mother. My petty trading mother could not afford the educational and basic needs of all five children after the death of my father. Presently my mother is newly married and living with her husband in a different region altogether. My grandfather, a farmer, who use to be directly responsible for my education is very old now and has been sick and bedridden for about 6 months now. Hence our faith rest in the hands of my 71 year old petty trading grandmother who is barely able to walk. Their relentless efforts have seen me almost through the primary level and very soon I will be starting my junior high school education. This will only be possible if someone somewhere who is hearing about my plight will graciously opt to support me through this and higher levels of education. I don't want to drop out from school because I am a witness to the stink of illiteracy here in my village and family to be specific. I need to become that Okurase lacks to serve them and my nation."
