Jacob lost his mother when he was three years old. He was taken care of by his elder sister, who married thereafter and left him with his ailing father. Shortly after, his father died in 2011 and he now lives with his brother who works as a peasant. He loves to read all kinds of books and hopes to become a surgeon someday.

Because of the separation, she married another man and has had three more children. This next man is a drug addict. The life of the children is at risk, so that is why Wema has taken in Naomi.

Millcent is a young girl with a lot of passion and energy. Her father passed away in 2001 from HIV/AIDS, and since then Millcent and her siblings have been strong and have dedicated their time and effort into doing well in school to pursue their dreams. Millcent is always eager to read more books and learn more until she becomes a doctor.

His mother died in the year 2010. Moses and his siblings live with their father, who has no source of income. Moses stays at Wema during the school days—otherwise it would be very hard for his grandmother to care for him.

I am glad to be in Highway Academy because my parents are unable to pay for my school fees so that I can continue with my education. There is good education in Highway Academy because there are good teachers who encourage learning.
