I grew up in the hands of a single mother. We went through several challenges together but we have always managed. In 2014, we faced the most challenging part of the year. My mother was bedridden and I had to take care of her at the same time I had to prepare for the end year national examination. We mostly had to depend on the philanthropy of neighbors and a few relatives to survive. I have embraced this as part of life. I will not let it dim my spirit. The School Fund has extended an olive branch to me. A chance to redefine my life and come out of this mire.

"My name is Libaan Abdirahman, a brother of eighteen siblings. From the beginning of my life until this present day, my massive family has been struggling with financial problems. Only four of us are allowed access to education due to our low family income. My father, who made our money, died two years ago. Our lives changed from being normal to being disastrous. I saw rays of hope when I got accepted to Abaarso School as a result of being a very good and hardworking student. While in Abaarso School, I work very hard and keep in mind that that, ""Chance favors a prepared mind."" I am the assistant director of the orphanage program that exists in our school. It reaches to little children who don't have the chance to go to formal schools. I do this because I know what it means to be in an adverse position. "

"The widespread lack of education affects my society from every periphery. The vast majority of people are illiterate and only a few people are able to go to school. Financials are predicaments for many families and my family is no exception. My brother and I attend school and my uncle covered our school tuition and other family expenses. He always did his best. When my uncle died in 2010, the financial tragedy presented itself. Apart from his unfortunate death, my mother was struggling to find a way to pay our tuition. She informed my brother and I that one of us had to leave school; I was lucky and am still receiving education. I am studying now at Abaarso School and I have never given up so I won't let my family down. Abaarso has helped me proceed with my education and dreams."
