"“Soy una persona líder.” “I am a leader.” This quote perfectly encompasses Nekky. She is eloquently spoken, takes initiative, and has the drive to achieve her post-secondary education goals. She is currently student body president for her accounting class and is a naturally charismatic person. Before coming to Mosqoy, Nekky’s family suffered a terrible tragedy in a gas fire at her house. Her mother was severely burned and her father did not live through the injuries sustained from the accident. Her mother has been a beacon of positivity and encouragement for Nekky throughout her studies, always guiding her and reminding her of her incredible potential. Despite this tragic experience she perseveres in a positive way. She is always willing to help others, dedicated to her studies, and brings laughter to the program. She is a fighter.

Nohemi is from the small rural community Socma in the Sacred Valley Region of Peru. Growing up it was difficult for her family to meet their basic needs. This made it challenging for her to prioritize her studies; nevertheless, she was persistent and found the support she needed for secondary education through scholarship programs. "La alegria y las ganas son los que guian nuestro camino para el exito. "Happiness and motivation guide our path to success." In the future, she would like to use her knowledge and experience in order to help develop a sustainable tourism program for Socma. She is very proud of her beautiful community and hopes to share her culture with others in a way that allows for responsible social development.

Fernando unfortunately grew up most of his life as an orphan, having lost both his parents at a young age. Having a lack of support and guidance, Fernando did not begin caring about his education until high school. Fernando's cousin, Raul, another Mosqoy student, introduced Fernando to Mosqoy and its program. The support and family structure Mosqoy offers is what brought Fernando to us, having had little of it when growing up. Fernando is now enrolled into Kiphu Institute where he is studying Tourism. He hopes to help teach his community Spanish so tourism can be a viable economic opportunity. He hopes to be able to teach travelers about his community culture and weaving traditions.

"Silvia comes from a small community on the Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu. Her community is in a beautiful natural area, but unfortunately suffers from challenges like alcoholism, domestic violence and poverty. There is also no option to access secondary education in near her home, so in order to attend secondary school she was chosen to participate in the Sacred Valley Project in the town of Ollantaytambo. Sacred Valley Project provides housing and leadership programming to girls like Silvia. Silvia dreams of one day owning her own restaurant and opening a shelter for abandoned children from in and around her community. To accomplish these dreams she applied and was accepted to Mosqoy. She just began her studies in Hotel and Business Administration and continues to build her leadership skills. We are excited to see Silvia develop into a leader for positive change in her community. “Si te caes, levántate y seguir viendo tu futuro.” “If you fall down, get up and continue to look towards the future.”

I grew up in the hands of a single mother. We went through several challenges together but we have always managed. In 2014, we faced the most challenging part of the year. My mother was bedridden and I had to take care of her at the same time I had to prepare for the end year national examination. We mostly had to depend on the philanthropy of neighbors and a few relatives to survive. I have embraced this as part of life. I will not let it dim my spirit. The School Fund has extended an olive branch to me. A chance to redefine my life and come out of this mire.

Class Rank: 7/50 Early in my life, one day my father called the whole family together at dinner time. He told my brothers and I that he had one year left at his job before being forced to retire. My brothers and I were all still of school age and we needed to study. Father told us that he would not be capable of paying the school fees. I was in grade seven, and my two brothers were in university. My brothers and I started thinking about how are were all going to continue in school. My parents told us that we should work hard and taking study seriously. That is the day when I realized that education is the key to my success and acheiving my dreams. My happiness moment was when I was chosen by The School Fund, so that i can continue my studies.

Class Rank : 10/301 The most difficult experience I had is when I realized that I was born out of marriage. That was hard in my life because I always got insulted by other children at my age. I have learned I will never repeat that situation. My dream is to be a Pilot in future. In order to make sure my dream will come true someday, I spend most my time study. Doing well with subjects such as Physics, Geography and Mathematics will significantly increase my chance to reach my dream. My happiest moment in life is when my dad said that he is proud of me. I have been waited so long to hear that from him. I am proud of myself to be a strong and content girl, I can live in any situation and still thank God for everything He gives. There are many things I plan to give back to the community, but first is opening the orphanage to help the children feel they are special. I also want to give back to the School Fund by being a member in the organization to help more children.

Renise came to the streets of Port-au-Prince from northern Haiti with her sister to beg and raise money to help her poor family. Life on the streets, however, turned out to be more difficult and traumatic than she expected. As a result, Renise used to regularly stutter, speaking only one word every few seconds when she got nervous or upset. Today, she loves being at the girls' home, is very confident, and has become an outstanding student. She skipped two grades and for the last few years, has been at the top of her class. She has a deep, profound, faith, and wants to one day dedicate her life to help share Jesus with other children living on the streets. Please pray for Renise's continued growth in the Lord and knowledge of His Word.
