Milaan Foundation envisions an inclusive and equal world where every girl has the knowledge, skills and social environment to pursue her dreams and explore her full potential. Over the last 12 years, Milaan has worked with more than 35,000 children and young people and advocated for safer and more inclusive spaces for them at various state and national platforms. The Milaan School specifically serves low income and lower cast families in a rural community in Uttar Pradesh, India.
At a very early age, Anita left her studies due to her family's poor financial condition. She wanted to continue her studies however her family didn't allow Anita to join school again. After two years, she is back in school and is studying in class 5. She is 13 year old and lives with her joint family. Her father is a laborer. Anita aims to be a teacher and enjoys playing kabbadi.

Reena's father feels grateful that his daughter is studying again. Reena is the second born of her 5 siblings. She and her elder sister have all responsibilities of family. Reena is a cheery girl and she is a regular student as she enjoys to come to school. Her favorite subject is art. She likes Hindi classes too. Reena knows the importance of her education and she works hard in her studies.

Seeba Ansari is sweet-hearted and a joyful girl. She maintains the balance between her studies and other activities. She likes playing games and reading story books. She lives with her 4 sisters in her house. She is a 12 year old girl studying in class 5 at Swarachan Learning and Resource Centre. She wants to become a teacher.

Kanchan is a happy girl. She likes to make friends. She loves to listening music and dancing. Her favorite subject is Hindi and G.K. She likes to read Hindi stories. She is living with her father, mother, two brother and one sister. She is third born in her four siblings. She has an interest in music so she wants to be a music teacher. Her father is a farmer and mother is a home maker. They support Kanchan for her studies.

Savita likes to cook food and wants to be a home science teacher. She likes to read Hindi books. She is drop out girl. This year she has enrolled herself under Swabhiman program at SLRC. She is the first born of her three siblings. Her mother is a home maker and father is farmer.

Prema has experienced financial hardship that has kept her from being able to attend school. As such, she values her education and enjoys when she can come to school. She enjoys spreading awareness of the importance of education in her community. In her free time she likes to help her mother with household chores. Someday Prema hopes to become a teacher.
