Hi TSF Sponsors!
This is Emma, the Scholarship Coordinator at Ester’s school, and I am writing on her behalf to update you all. Ester has been doing very well in 11th Grade this year, and it’s been amazing to watch her grow throughout the year. She is doing well in her classes and she has remained a very strong member of the Girls Basketball team, always committing to practices and her teammates. 11th Grade is an important year for students, as they begin to fully step into more leadership roles and opportunities on campus. For an example, Ester has been involved in the tutoring and mentorship program at school over the past few months. Recently, I had a chance to sit down with her and hear her thoughts about being a leader on campus, and I wanted to share them with you all!
"I really like being a leader because I feel good when I am able to help people to do things and change their own lives. For example, sometimes when I have seen my friends doing bad things, I have given them advice on how to do the right thing. Seeing them change to do the right thing has made me feel very proud and has changed their life to be better, and has also made me want to lead more. I think that leadership is important because when finding a job and sharing your ideas with other people, you need to be able to speak confidently and share your leadership. I also feel like my leadership is important in my community because I can give advice to my neighbors about how to send their children to school and try to change their lives economically."
We feel lucky to have Ester’s leadership on campus, and we’re excited to continue to watch her grow and mature in her final year at Orkeeswa! Thank you all very much for supporting Ester’s education. She is so grateful and always appreciates the encouraging words and sentiments.
With gratitude,
Emma (on Ester’s behalf)
