About

There are 8 people in Johnny's household: his mother and father, five brothers and sisters, and himself. Johnny calls himself number four - he has three older and two younger siblings. They all live in a large village in the mountains in a house with three small rooms and a patio. His father, mother and older brothers earn a living locally in agriculture, but the work is seasonal and insecure. Johnny has been doing well at school. He's particularly keen on maths but likes anything technical. His dream is to be able to qualify as an electrical engineer. When he's not at school or helping at home, he likes to play the guitar.

Hello. Our family life has changed because of Covid-19. I've had to be quite disciplined in my studies because this is my final year at school. I've learnt to appreciate the efforts of my parents more - they've had to go out to work in spite of their fear of the virus. This has made me more determined to complete my school work and do well, so we can all have a better future. We are all well, and thank you very much indeed for your support.
Hello. This is my third year in this school, and I'm going to graduate at the end of this year. I like this school. The only problems is that the teachers have too much to do, and sometimes we have too much free time.

Padre excelled in primary school and was ranked number four in his class. However, with six children to take care of, his family struggles to make ends meet. There are very few resources at home and they often do not have enough food to feed their children. Since none of Padre’s older siblings had the opportunity to go to secondary school, he hopes to be the first in his family to graduate so that he can give back to his family and his community.
