About

I am an ambitious football player with five children in our family from a God fearing and humble background. Living in Kibera has a lot of challenges like drug addiction, school drop outs, peer pressure among others. But I have tried to overcome them because I am a real change agent person, passionate to change the lives of poor people in the community and be a good role model to children of Kibera. I am committed to work hard in school in order to achieve my goal of opening an NGO that would change the life of Kibera community and I believe through God everything is possible. I am thanking Kennedy and Jessica for the opportunity to finish my secondary school education.

First term in 2020 started very well, as all the candidates in our school were so determined. I was so sure that this was my final year so we studied very hard. I used to wake up as very early as 4am and went to classroom for my personal studies and with the help of our Teachers we had finished the syllabus so all was left was just revision , when were about to do our pre-mock examination on which we were perfectly prepared to do is when the pandemic stroke, we were forced to go back home from school until all the things go back normal,
For me I expect to be back after one week but to my surprise it extended up to 7 months, for the first week while I was at home I didn’t do anything but in the second week our school introduced the zoom classrooms. This did not last for long; it only took about two months and it was over. So life went back to the way it was for me which was just relaxing at home and doing nothing. My life was just a cycle which involved waking up, eating and sleeping for almost one month. My parents decided to introduce me to a private tuition when seeing nothing is changing with these pandemic. This is where I continue studying up to October. It really helped me since after closing the school all the morale of studying had finished. The tuition helped me to recall all that I had forgotten since we started revision from form one (1) up to form four (4).
During the pandemic my family was greatly affected since my father is a jua kali worker getting income was really tough. Sometimes we could go the whole day without food. Most of the time he used to complain that he did not have money. My mother who is also a business woman was also affected since some days she went the whole day without selling anything. All the bad luck was not over because my sister who is a waitress at a carnivore hotel also lost her job. She used to support the family but due to the situation she came back home jobless.
During the pandemic period I learnt a lot and how life is tough especially when you don’t have a job and money. It also motivated me to work harder so that I may be successful in life so as not to go through what my parents are going through.
We went back to school in October. Most of us went back but did not have the morale of studying like that of the first term. At first we feared that schools might be closed again and we would have to repeat the whole forth again. But thanks to the almighty all was well. With the help of our teachers we formed study groups which helped us. They also encouraged us to precise peer teaching which helped most of the weak students. Our school followed all the guidelines but at first it was really hard, especially the washing of hands regularly and wearing a Face mask all the time. But thanks to our prayers we were able to finish the second term well and also did our mock exam which I was able to score a mean grade of B.
Now that I am going to finish my last term in high school I am really excited and determined to score well. Since I am very much prepared I wish to score a mean grade of B and all is possible with the help of Almighty. As I am going back I will make sure that I do all my best and whatever it takes to achieve my goal.
As I am going to finish I would like to thank the SHOFCO community as a whole for all the support that they have given me. They have been able to pay for me school fees for four years and not even a single day have ever sent me home because of the school fees. With such gratitude and honour I really thank you for your generosity to help us. Thank you SHOFCO Community and the Almighty bless you.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.
