Hello Crispus! I am so happy to hear from you. It must have been fun to have your school host the games!

Recently my family and I went to Iceland. It's a country that's an island in the northern hemisphere (between Europe and North America). While there we saw the continental divide-- one of two in the world. The other one is located in the Rift Valley in Kenya! We actually stood between the tectonic plates. We also saw a geyser--hot water spurting from he ground and the Northern lights. I've attached a few pictures including me and my husband Mike.

I am so happy to hear that you are studying hard. Use the break time to prepare for the exams. I know you will reach your dreams and be a leader in the community.

Take good care and I'll keep you in my prayers,

Sharon (Mutanu)
Hello!
It´s my hope that you are doing well.My second term has been good and I have continued to prepare myself for the final exam at the end of the year.I would also want to mention that our school hosted the secondary school ball games this year. I had an opportunity to participate in hockey but we were knocked out. However, this served as chance for me to direct my mind and energy into academics.
Putting that aside,I am really appreciative for standing with me in my academics through your generous contribution. It remains vivid in my mind that excellence in my academics is the only thing that can reciprocate your efforts that you have put to see me have a smooth academic progression.I am confident that I will achieve a good grade that I will propel me into the next level of education, pursue my dream career and become a reliable person in the society. With only one term remaining,I will work extra smart and make sure I gather as much content as possible in preparation for that ultimate exam.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful time filled with God´s blessings.
Crispus

Hello Sharon!

I hope you are doing well.I want to take this chance to appreciate you for supporting me in my academic journey.I also want to tell you that I missed that opportunity of hearing from the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi.I really wished to be part of that programme but unfortunately I was not able.
Here in our country,we are preparing for the Easter holiday. This holiday is well celebrated in our country since it brings together families and friends.
As you are having the winter season,in our country we are having the rains approaching. It is a time when many people especially farmers across the country become occupied due to the many agricultural activities.
In school,I have been working hard so has to achieve the best.As I will be moving into form four in the coming academic year,I will be very determined in my studies so as to finish my high school course with good grade.I will also work closely with my teachers so as to obtain more from them.
During this holiday,I am helping my mum in doing most of the house chores.I am also working on my subjects especially in the areas where I am a bit weak.I believe that in the start of the new academic year,I will improve in my performance.
I wish you a nice, time full of blessings from the Almighty.

Crispus .
Hello Crispus!

It must have been inspiring to have the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi talk to you class. You and your classmates are the future of Kenya and it's important to work hard in school and READ so you can be successful.

This week we are having Thanksgiving in the U.S. It's a time we gather with family around a big meal. Usually we have roast turkey, mashed potatoes, maize and other vegetables. We make pumpkin and apple pie too. It is a feast! We will be enjoying Thanksgiving with my mom and daughter and my husband's parents.

It is starting to become winter here. Last week we had some snow and this week the temperatures are going to be freezing. I actually like the cold and the snow. It's fun to be outside in it.

Keep up working hard in school. When you have trouble with the work, always ask your teacher to help you figure it out.

Thanks for writing! I always like hearing from you.

Sharon
Hello.

In school, we had a motivational session led by the vice chancellor,Nairobi University. It was very encouraging. As I go back for the second half of the term,my hopes are to achieve greater grades so has to keep my dreams alive.Once again, thank you and may the Lord keep you.
Have a wonderful and lovely time.
Crispus.
Hello Crispus!

It's so nice to hear from you. I am glad that school is going well.

It's great that you are interested in being a Civil Engineer. Doing well in maths and science will be important in helping you attain your dreams. My daughter's roommate is a civil engineer in Washington, DC and she is helping build a building for a University. Have you seen the new LRC Annex Building? Maybe sometime you can talk to the engineer working on the project to learn more. You should ask James.

I work for Kenya Connect in the U.S. I help raise money and find partners to help further the work. Tonight I have a shipper picking up 10 boxes of books and materials for Kenya Connect. They will go on a cargo ship and arrive in about 3 months.

Do you like to read? I read every night. I recently read a novel about India and now I'm reading a book about the plague in England in the 1600s. Reading will help you in school and on the exams.

Recently my husband and I went hiking in New York State. We climbed 7 mountains! Attached is a picture of the lake near where we stayed.

Take good care and keep working hard in school!

Hello Sharon!

I hope you have been doing well.On this other side, things have been going on well.To be honest,I have not been able to take on -line classes here at the LRC.The mentor series have been helpful..We have gained knowledge about some careers that most of us we dream about.
I am still in our village as we are waiting for the on coming rain season.Preparation of the farming areas has been one of the most busiest activity in our village.
I have been borrowing books from the LRC library. My favorite kind of book is My Life In Prison by John Kiriamiti.

Have a lovely time there in US.

Crispus
Hello Crispus!

I hope you are doing well! I hear that many of the TSF students have been taking on-line classes at the LRC. Have you been able to participate? How about the mentor series? Have they been helpful?

I am currently in the state of Vermont which is in the Northeast of the US. The trees are changing colors from green to red, yellow and orange before the fall off for the winter. It's very beautiful. It's also getting quite chilly here. Vermont is known for maple syrup. It's something we put on pancakes and is quite sweet. It's made from the sap of trees.

I hope you are borrowing and reading lots of books from the LRC library. Do you have a favorite kind of book?

Take Care!

Sharon
Hello Sharon,
It is my hope that you are fine.I am also fine.Everything has been good.I would like to apologize for getting in touch with you so late.I am also glad because of your concern and support in my academic progression.I believe you were eager to meet me but due to the restrictions to stop the spread of Corona virus, you were unable to make it but I strongly believe that one day we will meet.I am also reading and getting focused on academic activities.Math & science programs have and will always contribute greatly in my academic performances.Hope to see you Sharon.
Hello Crispus! Thank you for your note! I am excited you want to be a software engineer! Hopefully I will get to meet you when I am in Kenya in March. We are working at Kenya Connect to have more math/science support programs. I am glad you are reading! Hope to see you in March! Sharon

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
