My name is Lilian Namaemba. I joined Highway high school in 2016 on my second year of High School. Being new at Highway, I was challenged, the amount of attention given to education here at Highway is not match by any school I know of but I adapted with time.

Teachers have been great, monitoring my progress and helping me improve. This has given me hope in life and I promise to deliver my best grade come the National Examinations. My favorite subject is history; it helps me to learn some heroes in the world.

After school, I want to go to University and study law so I can become a lawyer and make decisions wisely just as other lawyers do.

I like reading novels and newspapers when I am free. I also like swimming and dancing. The best food to me is fried chicken and French fries.

Hello Lilian! You are now funded for the school year! How old are you and what grade are you in? I have a husband, 4 married children, and 8 grandchildren. Our 9th grandchild will be born within a few weeks, and we are so excited! Tell me a little bit about your family and the things you like about school. Do you have any hobbies? Her loving grandparents sent her to Beyond Fistula due to concerns for her safety, and she has now happily adjusted to life here. The older women at Beyond Fistula are like her big sisters, and she loves her new 'family', as well as the opportunity to pursue her education.

    Kelvin is a young student whose father has abandoned him, his brother, and his mother. She had an obstetric fistula from giving birth that made it very difficult for her to work. Kelvin is close with his grandparents but his mother struggles to keep the family housed and there are days they only have one meal. He wants to succeed in school along with his brother.

    Fiona is the last born in a family of three. She lives with both her parents who are casual labourers. Her mother had a major surgery on her left hand in 2020. This made them sell part of their property to take care of the medical bills and thus reducing their income significantly and again making it very difficult for them to take care of the education bills of their children. Fiona drew her inspiration to pursue success from her Math teacher and she aspires to be a civil engineer to make contributions in the development of infrastructure in her village.
