About

The happiest time in my life is my birthday. I normally celebrate by meeting and talking with friends. Also when I passed the Standard Seven national examination, I was very happy. This is because I want to go to secondary school. I know that without education I cannot get a good life. My family faces financial crises at home because they cultivate little crops and do not earn much. They do not have enough to buy my school requirements. My dream is to become a doctor and take care of people with illness. Through hard work I can do it.

Hi Students!

I just read all the journal entries I have received since October. Such wonderful letters! I am so impressed by how mature and articulate you have become. I’m realizing that I have now been reading some of your journals for 5 years. When I look at your photos, I don’t recognize the child I first knew. You are teenagers now.
I especially love the stories that some of you told in your journals. Moral tales, I call them.

So congratulations for working so hard. I’m hoping you will achieve your goals, go to a university if you want, and become productive members of your community, and able to help others as you have been helped.

I am enjoying retirement. My age of 76 is bringing on a bit of health problems, like arthritis, but I keep active physically and don’t let it stop me from doing what I love to do.

I read a lot. I travel. I go to jazz concerts in San Francisco. I would love to return to Kenya and Tanzania for a visit. I’d love to visit your school. Maybe it will happen. Who knows?

So keep up the great efforts. I know it can’t be easy, but this is such a wonderful opportunity.

Very fondly, Susan
Hi Jenny.I am fine. How are you. I am here to present the topic about the Earth quake.i know most of the Asian countries are much affected by it. An earthquake is sudden ground movement. This movement is caused by the sudden release of the energy stored
in rocks. An earthquake happens when so much stress builds up in the rocks that the rocks break. An earthquake’s
energy is transmitted by seismic waves. Each year, there are more than 150,000 earthquakes strong enough to be felt
by people. An amazing 900,000 are recorded by seismometers.
CHAPTER 7. MS EARTHQUAKES

Causes of Earthquakes
Almost all earthquakes occur at plate boundaries. All types of plate boundaries have earthquakes. Convection
within the Earth causes the plates to move. As the plates move, stresses build. When the stresses build too much,
the rocks break. The break releases the energy that was stored in the rocks. The sudden release of energy creates
an earthquake. During an earthquake the rocks usually move several centimeters or rarely as much as a few meters.
