Dear TSF Sponsors,

This is Samantha, the Scholarship Coordinator at Orkeeswa School, writing on behalf of Cadet! Cadet is currently in the 9th Grade, and recently, in his Life Skills classes, he's been learning about meditation and mindfulness as tools for success both in and outside the classroom. I thought you would like to hear Cadet's reflections on these topics!

"In my Life Skills classes, we’ve been learning about the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. A person with a fixed mindset doesn’t think change is possible or that he can learn new things, while a person with a growth mindset always wants to learn more. I try to use a growth mindset when I’m studying. I also learned about something else that I can use when I’m studying, and it’s called meditation. Meditation can make you feel really relaxed, and when I meditate, I try to think about only one thing and not get distracted. Meditation can help you because when you’re in an exam and you don’t know the answer, you can use meditation to help you stay relaxed and not get stressed!" - Cadet

Thank you for your support of Cadet's education at Orkeeswa School!

With gratitude,

Sam, Cadet, and Orkeeswa School

Enoch comes from a humble family of two and he is the first born child. His parents are unemployed and depend on casual jobs to sustain their family and thus unable to raise his secondary school fees. Despite staying home for most of the time throughout his primary education due to lack of school levies, his dream to become a mechanical engineer has kept her focused. Enoch has seen a number of people in his area struggle too much when their machines and engines break down and there is no one to help repair them. He would also like to help the needy and poor families support their children in becoming better persons in the future. His hobbies are drawing and taking photographs. He holds on to the quote that says the road to success is not straight.
