Padre excelled in primary school and was ranked number four in his class. However, with six children to take care of, his family struggles to make ends meet. There are very few resources at home and they often do not have enough food to feed their children. Since none of Padre’s older siblings had the opportunity to go to secondary school, he hopes to be the first in his family to graduate so that he can give back to his family and his community.

This is Tunu, the Communications Manager at Orkeeswa School.

I hope this email finds you well and healthy, especially during this difficult time in our world. As you may be aware, Orkeeswa School reopened in June after we made several changes on campus to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community.

Padre is doing well and is excited to be back in school catching up with his studies. He is currently focused on covering his 10th Grade topics, and in Life Skills he is learning about Stress Management. He has written a letter to check in with you and your families, as well as share with you an update on what he is doing in class. You should receive the letter soon!

We look forward to keeping you updated on Padre's progress and thank you for your continued support in his education. We are so thankful for your partnership, which has been even more critical this year during the pandemic, ensuring we can stay on track with our mission to provide the highest-quality education to our students.

    Gabriel is a determined young boy who believes that success does not come on a silver platter. He is the third born with three sisters and one brother. His parents are unemployed and only depend on casual jobs to cater for the needs of their family. Regardless of him sleeping without food, he toiled so hard to pass his examinations. Gabriel believes that obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal and he is very insistent on his dream of becoming an engineer to help his community. He loves cycling as a hobby.

    Davis is the second born in a family of six. He completed his primary school education and passed very well in his national examinations. His parents deserted the family and he and his siblings are currently living with their aged grandmother who is unable to work. Davis is a determined young boy who wants to be a meteorologist to fulfill his desire of understanding the earth’s atmospheric phenomena as well as uplift his family from poverty. The encouraging words from his grandmother have propelled him to pursue his dreams and he believes that there is light at the end of the tunnel. He likes playing football during his free time.
