About

Simon Irungu Waithera is 17 years old. He is a bright boy whose poor and semi-illiterate mother was divorced in the year 2005 due to abuse. The family relied on his mother's income as a casual laborer earning less than a dollar a day. It became a struggle for his mother to provide for Simon and his siblings. He started to be associated with the dangerous "Mungiki" sect and was at risk of dropping out of school and being used to traffic drugs. He was admitted to Agape Mercy Children's Center (AMCC) in 2009 and was enrolled in form one at St. Basil Secondary School. Simon's vision is to become an accountant after he graduates from university or college. His favorite food is chapati with meat. At AMCC he is the chairman of the fellowship.
