About

Christian is under the care of his eldest brother who is currently a third year student at Kenyatta University. His father is a peasant farmer at the shores of Lake Victoria (Western Kenya). His performance at Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) - a National Exams, was sterling but could not afford the fees to a top boys' boarding school he was admitted at. His family settled on a day school where the school fees is manageable, this has not dampened Christians spirits. He still has his dreams alive and in the first exams he did in form one, he emerged the best overall students. Funding through The School Fund will ensure that he remains in school as he works towards joining university.

Hi again.I wrote just to inform you of the wonderful holiday I had.I really enjoyed it as I had time to spend with my family and other relatives.I got to learn more new things and socialized with more people. It was really awesome.I learned that the more you socialize with people the more you create a more conducive environment for the sharing of ideas on how to solve the challenges we meet daily.I still thank the school fund and Kenya educational fund for what they do for me.Hope to communicate with you soon bye.
yours sincerely,

christian
I attended the Google for X meeting held at the University of Nairobi here in Kenya and it was wonderful. Many people attended and I learned a lot of things. We were shown on how to use new ideas through Google to solve for our X in Africa and it was actually fantastic. I learnt that the challenges that that Africans face such as food shortages, infrastructure and lack of education can be solved by Africans themselves. During this meeting I also had the chance to acquire a good book to read called THE NEW HARVEST by Caleoustus Juma. The book is about how we can use agriculture to improve on our living standards. It was a nice session and I hope to put in action whatever I learnt. The book by Juma is really fantastic and it says that agriculture is the backbone of African countries if not all. It states that if all African states embarked on serious agriculture the problem of low living standards will be solved. It also states that African states are endowed with a good environment that can support agriculture to the fullest.
More than that, I also had the chance to make new friends. I met one person who came from Tanzania and we became best friends. I met various people who were genius in making decisions. I exchanged ideas with theirs and I learnt a lot of things from them. We were the only people from high school and people were happy to see us there. We attracted their attention and I hope we did not disappoint.
I also enjoyed the food I ate there. It was fantastic. I thank the Google society and those who were involved. I thank the school Fund and Kenya Education Fund for helping us attend this meeting. With all this we are really making a step and Africa we will prosper.
Thank you so much Melanie.
Christian, that's wonderful. I hope you achieve your dream. Melanie
Hi Melanie,
Things are okay in school. Did I tell you that next year I will be sitting for my final exam in high school? I aim at joining a medical school once I graduate from high school. I sincerely hope to do well and I really thank you for keeping my hopes alive.
Thank you Melanie!

Sincerely,
C. Fabio
Hello Jaclyn,
Hope this finds you well. I am enjoying my classes and it feels great to learn something new in school. You mentioned that you are at Brown University. We had a chat with our area MP and he told us about his visit to your school. It really motivated us and me in particular. I hope to join you someday as I hear it is one of the best universities in the US.
My decision to be a doctor was informed by the fact that where I live there are no good health services and I hope to change this sooner when I achieve this dream. Thank you for keeping this dream alive. You are the best.
Best!
Christian Fabio
Hi Christian, how's things going at school?
Hi Christian,

My name is Jaclyn, and I am student at Brown University who works with the School Fund. How is school so far this year? I hope you are enjoying your classes. Do you have a favorite subject? I study politics at Brown.

I noticed from your profile that you want to be a doctor. That's so cool! What made you decide on this career choice?

Feel free to write me back on this journal!

All the best,
Jaclyn
Hi Timothy,
I am making the necessary efforts to improve on my results and I am glad to hear that you have been the same principle of hard work in your life and I wish you all the best in your studies too.
We recently hosted the TSF team here in Kibera and I am happy for the kind of insights they gave us. I am sure that from the interaction we had so many of my colleagues have been inspired. I hope some day when they come vising again you will be in their company. You also inspire me a lot and I really appreciate everything you do for me.
Thank you and best of regards.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
