Christella had been living on the streets of Port-au-Prince for many years. Regular abuse, daily begging, and scrounging around for food were her way of life. As she grew older, Christella began to fear the older boys on the street and tried to maintain a very low profile. She even cut her hair short and wore boys clothing in order to try to hide her gender. Christella was eventually able to shelter herself in a street boys ministry to hide and protect herself. The director of the ministry referred her to us and we gladly took her in. Christella came to us as a very solemn young girl and has now developed into a person who is constantly grinning and laughing. She enjoys playing soccer and serving at our community feeding program. Christella loves God and is thankful for the new life she has at the girls home where she is safe and loved. Please pray for Christella, that she will continue to grow in her faith in Jesus.

Do you have time to make jewelry and sew during the school week? Maybe on Saturdays? If so what kind of projects are you working on currently?

hey,I am christella and I am 16 years old and I am in 9th grade, now I'm going to take the gorvernent test this year. My favorite subjet is math and social science.
I wan't to be a social worker, and scientist, and i like to play soccer, and basketball. and i get to play now only when i don't have homework. my favorite to do is playing and have fun but i don't have time to do all this, thing i like to do is play with lettle kids and i don't like to be alone and I love jesus i like to read my bible before i go to bed and like to listen to chritian music i like to watch only teenager movies like high school musical I'm so happy i get to talk to you thank you for your help. love you

Hi Christella,

I hope you are enjoying your summer. Are you in summer school? Is the Transition House having classes again this summer? So far I don't have plans to come to Haiti. I do have friends from Santa Barbara coming in August. It is the same Junior High group that came last summer, there are some of the same kids and leaders, and some new faces. My friends Cathy and Denise will be there, they are really nice, you will like them. Denise is very athletic, you'll have to play soccer with her. I wish I was coming, I would love to see you and sew with you. I tried to send you a picture of a doll dress I made. It's supposed to look Caribbean. What do you think?

Hi Kathy and jeffrey! How are you guys doing? I had a great day in school today. and Friday I will be playing soccer on Friday. For sure will will win. I love reading my Bible allot and studying. I was first place in my class. I receive a certificate from my school, cuz I was so good! Well here is a picture of me.     Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

    Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

    The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
