About

My name is Neema. The most difficult experience I had in my life happened when my father left me and my mother. We lacked basic needs and were living a difficult life. My dream is to be a teacher. In order to make my dream come true, I will study hard and cooperate with my fellow students. A moment when I’ll feel especially proud of myself is when I start Form 5. I am sure my dream will come true. In 2011 was the happiest moment in my life. I was chosen for The School Fund. My family had failed to pay my school fees. In my life I cannot forget that moment because The School Fund has been my big help. When I fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher, I will help the community by supporting the people, especially students who have no money for needs like school fees. I will help the students like The School Fund helped me.

Dear Students,

I hope that this journal entry finds you both happy and healthy. 2016 is well on its way and I am curious to learn how this year differs from the last. What are you most proud of so far? You should always be proud of being a part of our team. Being part of such an amazing organization has put you on a path to greatness that will guarantee you success in whatever you choose for your future as long as you continue your hard work.
On the other side of things what is troubling you in 2016? I hope not much! But if there is something you would like to talk about, I would love to listen and help if I can.

It is an honor to be in correspondence with you all.
Please remember to study hard, play hard and laugh as much as you can this year-you all deserve great happiness!

All my best to you,
Amanda

Dear students:

Welcome to TSFTZ family!

My name is Jenny Chen, I am a retired software engineer. I work for TSFTZ as a volunteer staff. In 1976 I came to United States from Taiwan to study Math. I live in San Francisco area most of the time with my grownup children close by. However I travel back to Taiwan very often since most of my family members are still there.

Education helps me achieve my current good living standard. I echo TSF’s motto: “Education is an investment in the future”. Our team is devoted to help school-aged children stay in school, especially girls’ education. We encourage our students to write to us so we get to know each other better. We read each journal entry enthusiastically and response accordingly because we CARE.

TSFTZ team expects each sponsored student study hard and be successful! It is my privilege to write to you. I am looking forward to work with you.

-Jenny
Happy New Year 2016 !

With this post I am writing to send you my wish that the New Year is a bright one for you; successful, healthy and happy.

I would like it if you could write me back to tell me of how you spent your time over the long school break; of your family and friends, your activities and your thoughts.

be well,
Karen
Hello Everyone,

As a year comes to close, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am very proud of each of you knowing that you have worked hard to achieve academic success despite under difficult circumstances.

You inspire me greatly and are an example of what hard work and determination can bring to one’s future.

We have worked hard in the US to raise money for your education, and nothing would make me happier seeing you take full advantage of the scholarship from The School Fund to fulfill your educational dreams in the future, whatever profession or objective that may be.

Study hard and make your dreams come true. Have a fantastic 2016!

Your friend,
Jonathan G.
Hi, Neema,

I'm sorry I have not written sooner. I was traveling in Europe for the whole month of September. I visited Warsaw, Dresden, and Vienna.I also visited Budapest and other places in Hungary, and Prague and other places in Czech Republic.

Are you close to finishing Form 4? What will you do next? I'm so happy you have stayed in school and that you want to be a teacher.

Madeleine
It is nice to see most of you already went to the computer center to update your journal. I know all of you had a great break. It is already half way on in your second semester. Two more months before this school year is going to end. I wish you all to try your best. I know you all can do it.

In your summer assignment you wrote that you will study hard so you could reach your dream. It is true that your future is in your own hands, and your own destination is how you are going to work on your goals and reach them. People could recommend that you do some things and they can help you in some way, but you are the only person that can make the your dream come true. Any step you take, you are one step close to your dream. I want to see you all work hard to reach your next destination.

As the people who fund your education we want to know you. The only way we have to know you are through your journals.

Please write in your journal, so that we can know you better. You can write about your daily life, your school, your friends, what subjects you are studying now. What is your favorite subject and why do you like it, and so on. We want to know your hopes and dreams. Or write us anything at all that you want us to know about.

I want you all to be outstanding people in my mind, each of you separate and special. If you are just a name in a group, there is no way for me to know you.

I know some of you are going to have your National Exam. I pray for you and wish you the best.
When I was your age. I was the same as you.. I worked for everything I needed and wanted.
I never gave up. I knew if I just tried hard and never lost my hope that I would make it.

I did talk to Mr. Amos, and Mr. Paulo, they said MMM center (computer center) will be open any time. You can drop by to study the subject you are interested in from the RACHEL PI.

Everybody can be successful if they are self learners. The more knowledge you have the more successful you will be. Everything on this earth comes and goes, only an Education will be with you and nobody can take it away from you.
Dear Neema,
It is always difficult to get back to the routine after the summer break. Evidently you are adjusting yourself just fine. Very happy to hear that.
As TSFTZ staff, we are trying to communicate with our sponsored students often. Sorry if you did not hear back from us in a timely manner. We will try hard to response student's journal entry as often as we can.
-Jenny

Hello,

I just want to say hello to all of you.
My name is Judy Severson.
My son Matthew Severson began The School Fund (TSF) in 2009 when he was at University.
After he graduated from University, he started to work full time. It was then that he asked me to help TSF in Tanzania.

We were really lucky to get help from the Chairman and President Mr. Fuad, the Chief Operation Officer Mr. Amos in Iringa, our local representative Mr. Paulo in Karatu and
all the local headmaster/headmistress and teachers. Without their help we will not be able to support all the TSF students in Tanzania.
I thank all of them very much for all of their support.

I am very glad we are able to help to pay much of your school fees, so you can continue your education. Keep up the good work! I hope one day you can reach your dream.

I brought RACHEL-PI systems for all the schools and I hope that you use them to help you study. The content on RACHEL-PI can provide a lot of additional information for you to learn.
I hope your new semester is successful and joyful.

With my best wishes,
Judy
Hello Neema,

Dear Asha,

My name is Daxue. I am Anthony's mom. We both are volunteers for The School Fund and we both would like to write to you often. Anthony is at summer break and now he is in Oregon traveling with his friends.

I am so happy that your dream is to become a teacher. My father was a teacher, too. He had taught so many students and students respect him very much.

How are you doing? I hope to hear back from you soon.

Best wishes,

Daxue

Hello, Neema,

How are things with you? I just came back from a trip to some very historical cities in the Eastern United States: Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina. We saw some beautiful houses, an important fort from the American Civil War, and a memorial for Martin Luther King, Jr. We also saw plenty of birds, which was the point of our trip.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Madeleine
Hi Neema, we havent heard from you lately but we hope to learn more about you. How are you? So far we have been learning about ancient Egypt. What are you currently learning in school? How is your family? Here in New York, the weather is starting to get really warm. What is the weather like in Iringa? This week we are taking a test called the ERBs. Do you have any upcoming tests? What is your favorite food? Our favorite foods are macaroni and cheese, cheeseburgers and mozzarella sticks. We hope to hear back from you soon!
From,
Sydney, Leo, Annabel and Gus

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
