About

Mutete is a orphan girl who is determined and hardworking. She completed primary education at Nyaani primary school in 2012 and emerged the top best student at the school. She is the only child in her family. Her mother passed away on Mutete's 6th birthday when she was just in the first grade. Mutete was left under the care of her aged and ailing grandmother (over 80 years old). Thanks to the support from a well-wisher, Mutete was able to complete her primary education and most encouraging to score best grades in her class in the national exam! Throughout primary school Mutete was always among the best students in class. Now Mutete has no support for her education and her aged grandmother has no source of income making Mutete's education and future look uncertain. However, Mutete's dream and passion to become a pilot remains clear in her mind. She believes that education is the key to a successful future life.

Hello Mutete…your friends at Fort Smallwood are still committed to your education. We have funded the next year of your schooling. Lots of snow here in Maryland has given our students a few extra days off from their studies but in March they will be doing their State testing….I would like to share a bit about you at our school assembly this month as you continue your schooling and keep up the hard work.
Hi Mutete,

I am so happy to hear from you and that you had a nice holiday. Please tell me what made your holiday "wonderful". I have been very busy moving to a different and smaller home. That is what I have done over the holidays. The holidays are otherwise very simple for us as we do not exchange gifts or decorate.

I am proud of you for completing another year and encourage you to study. Memorizing is part of school but, understanding is real learning that will stay with you. I hope you call on your teachers to really understand what they present in class and homework. For example, multiplication: 5x5=25; 10x10=100. Imagine that those items are something you need for everyday like buttoning your shirt with 5 buttons and if you wear that shirt 5 times how many times have you buttoned it in a week? 25 times. Then, if you have 10 girls in your class how many toes would that be in total? 100 toes and 9 girls have 90 toes. How many toes do 8 girls have? How many steps does it take between class and lunch? How many steps would that be in a week?

I look forward to hearing from you and wish you a very good year!

Sincerely,

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl

Thank you once again for supporting my high school education. We are now back to school after a three-week holiday. The second term of the year will run up to July. During the holiday I helped my grandmother in house hold chores.

This term I am focused to achieve a higher grade than last term. I will be working on my weak subjects to improve my overall grade. I am wishing you all the best in your daily endeavors
Mutete
Hi Mutete,
I am very happy to hear from you and about your studies. You probably know that you will use math a lot as a pilot but, building a good foundation of many subjects will prepare you for life. I hope you enjoy your break from school. I am taking a break from my projects at home to tell people about scientists that study the brain and consciousness. Our brain is our biggest asset. But, it seems that you already know that! Keep your brain active while on break :-).
Kind regards,
Cheryl

Thank you so much for your concern in my education. In school we are learning several subjects like mathematics, English, Biology, chemistry among others. We have closed school for April holiday and we shall resume back on May 7th 2013. I am happy to know that you were a flight attendant. I never had the opportunity see an airplane closely but it is my passion to become a commercial pilot. I am working hard in school to attain this dream.

Mutete
Hi! I can't wait to hear about what you are learning in school! I was a Flight Attendant for many years and I just retired. Being a Pilot takes a lot of study and skill; I wish you well. Have you decided if you want to be a private pilot or commercial pilot?

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
