Hello friends at The School Fund, it’s a pleasure to say hello to you all. I know that we’ve never met in person but I want to share my achievements and experiences of Casa Mosqoy with you.

My name is Cristian Guerra Acuña and I am from the community of Tanccac, (Ollantaytambo district, Urubamba province, Cusco department). My community is approximately two hours from Cusco by bus.

I attended primary and secondary school in my town. Later, I had the opportunity to enter Mosqoy where I began to study Tourism in the Khipu Institute, and I finished studying on October 20th 2017. Now, I work Tourism, in an agency called Lorenzo Expeditions and I like to travel, learn about new cultures, my country’s customs and the link between people from different backgrounds, either from Peru or abroad.

I received my professional title: Official Tourism Guide on May 8th of this year, for which I feel proud and grateful to Mosqoy for helping me achieve my goal and dream.

In my free time, I like to play football and run in the mornings. Also, I enjoy cooking and travelling with my family.

Thank you is all that I can say to you all.

Hello, I am a student from Casa Mosqoy. This is an opportunity for me to send you my most sincere thanks for all that you have done for me. Giving me the opportunity to be a better person through laboural, social, and personal ambition. Your support is not in vain. I am putting all of this to use because opportunities like this are rare. I will always be very grateful and will always remember the good that you have done for me. Anyways, I would like to tell you that I will soon be graduating and I’m currently doing my corresponding thesis. It’s going very well and I’m giving it my all. My goal is to be an exemplary student for my siblings, my family, and the community that I’m from. With that, I would like them all to know that everything in life is possible if we put in the work. We are the ones who make limits for ourselves, and if that changes it will be for the good of us all. If we do this, we would be helping so that our community and country can advance, that we see life through a positive lense. And we can do this, because the decision is in our hands. I have already decided to make this change thanks to the 3 and a half years of knowledge that I’ve gained from my studies. This serves me well, and will serve me well for my whole life. For this great opportunity I’ve been given I can only thank you, say that I love, and that I appreciate you very much. I’d also like to tell you a little bit about Casa Mosqoy and all the good and positive things that are happening. I personally feel like I am with family, sharing moments with my friends (but it's really like they're my brothers and sisters). The affection and cooperation that we have together unites us. Thank you to the Mosqoy family for these experiences I've been given, so unique, that may never occur again in my life. I will always carry you in my heart because you taught me many, many lessons that will be carried throughout my life. Thank you is all that I can say.

Dear Cristian,
all the best with your studies. Are you going to be a tour guide in Peru's Sacred Valley?
I live in Germany yet studied (Art) History with the Open University in the UK as a mature student. Although I concentrated on the Italian Renaissance I'm also fascinated by Inca architecture.
Hopefully the contribution will help with your studies but also give you an opportunity to enjoy your hobbies and spend time with your friends.
All the best and ¡Hina kachun! (Hope the internet provided the correct translation :)
Eugen

Hi Cristian,
I am very happy to fund you!
My name is Joe. I live in New York City. I like to read about history, I like to travel, I like African wildlife too,
especially the rhino. I work at a university.
I think it is cool that you want to be an official tour guide. I have travelled to many places and
the tour guide is very important. I have never been to South America.
I like to go on individual tours, this way I get to ask my own questions.
I look forward to getting to know you!
Tell me about yourself and anything else you want to talk about.
Joe

Hi Cristian,
It's the teacher from Brentwood College, Sue Quinton. We had a fundraising dance and are sending you some money to help with your education this year.
Dear Cristian,
We haven't met but I teach at Brentwood College School and believe in Mosqoy's dream for the young people of the Sacred Valley. Good luck with your studies. Sue Quinton
Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for your messages and your support, it's a pleasure to meet you! I would love to hear more about where you are from and how your loves look like, Salmini, Dorothy and Gabe.

When will you finish high school Gabe? I love your story about North Dakota, that must be crazy! Even though I can't imagine that much snow here in Cusco, I'm sure you would love to come here, as we have many, many mountains. Cusco is surrounded by mountains to all sides, and so are my hometown and the communities most of my friends come from. Thank you very much for your nice words, I wish you all the best for your career too! Good luck with your studies!

Dorothy, I really appreciate your and your son's donation for christmas, that was a great present! I am studying Tourism at Khipu institute in Cusco, and really like my degree! I love learning more about the tales and historic facts of my country Peru, but also about foreign cultures. Even though I've never traveled internationally, I can learn a lot from conversations with the volunteers that work at our organization Mosqoy. I think that's one of the best parts about this program, because it gives me such a unique chance to broaden my horizon and learn about other peoples' lives and traditions.
In my free time, I love to do sports such as soccer or table tennis, but also enjoy reading a book or having long conversations. What about you?

Thank you again for your help to achieve my dream of studying and, after finishing university, going back to my city and helping the people adapt new ideas, open new businesses and dare to change!

I'm looking forward to your answers!

Best wishes from Peru,

Cristian
Hey Cristian! My name is Gabe and I'm a 4th year high school student living in North Dakota. That's in the northern United States if you didn't know. We are living very different lives. We just had a blizzard here that covered the entire city with 10 inches of snow. The temperature is sitting at 2 degrees fahrenheit right now (but it feels way colder because it is super windy). I looked up your town and it is beautiful. I love mountains but the nearest mountain to my city is about 500 miles away. Crazy. Best of luck fighting through school, it's tough. I admire your perseverance. Keep working towards your dreams and you will achieve them! It's people like you that inspire me most in life. Thank you, and keep working hard.
Hi Cristian,
I have made a donation to your scholarship fund on behalf of my son, Matthew, who is the same age as you, as a way of sharing with others for Christmas. I wish you much success in your education. What are you currently studying in school? What hobbies do you have in your spare time?

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.
