About

I am fifteen years old and from the Masaai Village of Lashaine. My father has three wives and twenty-five children. I am the last born of my mother's eleven children. My family has a three-acre maize farm and we have two cows, seven goats and two sheep. When I finished primary school I was selected for a government school but I could not go because my family could not pay for the school fees. Because Orkeeswa Secondary School helps us to find sponsors for our education I was able to go here. If it were not for Orkeeswa I would no longer be in school.

Hello everyone! This is Lisa, the Scholarship Director at Einoti's school. Because our internet and power have been down at the school for several months, Einoti has not been able to post as regularly as she would like. Hopefully we will have our computer lab fixed soon so Einoti can be in touch with you directly. Until then, I wanted to share this quote from Einoti that we got from her last week when she was talking about the value of collaboration.

"We work in groups in class time or when we are doing certain research. In form two we had to do a biology project that took a month, and we worked in groups. We were not allowed to base anything on the book, only on research we did for the question we were given. Working in a group taught me that you can do much more with other people than you can by yourself. Maybe I know about something, then you understand about it, and we can come up with the best idea together. Working in a group also taught me how important it is to have friends that you can ask for help. If I am facing many challenges and not understanding something and I don’t have a friend, it is not good. If I do have a friend to ask they will help me, and I will help them later if they don’t understand. When you work with people you solve things you didn’t know you could."

Thank you all for supporting Einoti's education at Orkeeswa School!

Hello Everyone!

I am doing very well in school and l hope you are also doing well and your families are good. l want to tell you two things which happened in my life. First, in my school we made a long jump course and we are practicing to make our school have the best team. The second thing is, we have the new pre-form one students in our school now. They began studying last week. We are happy to see them because we love them so much.

Your Lovely Einoti
Hi Everyone!

It is me, Einoti Medutieki. I am doing well in school and I am confident. My school’s name is Orkeeswa Secondary School. I am fourteen years old and I am in form one. I have four brothers and two sisters and I am the last born in my family.

This weekend I went into the market to buy some food and clothes for my family. I also helped my parents with many things, for example, I fetched water and cooked. After that I washed my clothes and studied. I visited my friends to study and ask questions.

Today in school I am learning about civics and the topics about citizenship. A citizen is a person who belongs to a particular country with all legal rights. I ate lunch, it was a good lunch of ugali and beans.

I like to play basketball and volleyball also because those are my favorite sports.

Your Lovely, Einoti

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
