About

Pastory Leone comes from Moshi, and is one of the brightest students at Msamaria Street Children's Home in Moshi, Tanzania. When he was young, his father died and after his father died, his mother told him about school. His mother told him to avoid bad friends, and to focus on his studies, however she was soon unable to pay for Pastory's fees, and he had to drop out. Pastory was afraid to go back to school, because the school was angry that he could not pay. That is when Mr. Mapunda, the Director of Msamaria, found Pastory, and decided to help him. With the help of Msamaria and The School Fund, Pastory will be able to return to school, and continue his education. He says that, "often I like to read and to think about my life. Mr. Mapunda told me without reading, you will get a bad life. I will do good in everything. I will read everytime because I want to get a good life."

Wishing you a happy holidays and New Year!!

Debbie
Hi Pastory,

It''s neat to see your new photo! You have grown so much. I still see the eagerness to learn in your eyes.

I hope you are enjoying and working hard at school.

Take care,
Debbie
Hi Pastory,

Hope you are doing well. My family just finished funding your education. We really hope this will be a wonderful year for you.

In other news, we adopted two dogs. They are called Fern (the little brown dog) and Coco (the big one). My children really like having 2 new friends!

Take care,
Debbie
Hi Pastory,

How are you? We are thinking of you from California. I listened to a music video by a great singer. It reminded me that you like to sing and rap. Here is the video I liked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWjZefKHZFU

I hope school and life are good to you. We believe in you!

Debbie
Hi Pastory,
I hope the examination went well! Good luck on the June examinations. I just took a hard test yesterday called the GRE that will help determine whether I get to go to school next year. I'm hoping I did well enough too.

Christi
Difficul examination than easter Holiday. Now in school in Mwanga again and I must study realy hard for june examination. I will do good and God help me. Next year I will start for Form 3.
Happy birthday Pastory! I like Bongo flavor music too. Have you ever heard country music from the US? It sounds really different from Bongo Flavor, but I like it too. What kind of movies do you like? Do you ever watch movies from Nigeria or India?

I hope you did well on your exams!

Christi
Hello every body, I'm happy to hear you like me singing. I like singing a lot. My favorite singers are Diamond and Dully Sykes. They are Tanzania and do Bongo Flavor music. Tomorrow Diamond comes to sing in Moshi Kilimanjaro but I will be in school in Mwanga and I will miss. It is for Kilimanjaro marathon and in other years we ran. That is making me sad but my friends will go. I did examinations this week and I wrote a paper for science. The results will be finished in next week. Later we will play football and than is movie night but yet I do not know what movie we will watch. After one month is holiday I go to Moshi but in June no holiday because of the Form 2 national examinations study.
My birthday is March.
Thank you.
Pastory,
I just finished getting you completely funded for the rest of the year. I hope you enjoy school and continue to work hard. I loved your singing on facebook! You have a lovely voice. I'm a music teacher and director, and I know how important music is in bringing happiness to people. Let us all know how you are doing as the school year goes along. Best wishes to you and your family! Jill and Greg
Hi Pastory!

We also heard you sing on Facebook! What song did you sing? Your English sounds very good. What is your favorite song?

Today my son went to a birthday party. They went ice-skating. It was really fun. What is your favorite subject at Green Bird?

Have a great day! We are thinking of you a lot.

Debbie and family

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
