Hello School Fund students!

Welcome to a new school year. I hope that your long break was full of family and friends, good work and good times.

I also hope you can reset your mind quickly back to class and lessons, learning and growing in your knowledge base.

I look forward to reading your posts this year, to learning more about you: your joys and hopes and challenges.

I also have some news! Madam Judy is coming to visit Tanzania in July and August!

This is a very good chance to meet a fine lady, a good friend of yours, and a very important person for your future.

Until soon?
Welcome back,
Karen
Dear Students
How are you all? I hope you are enjoying school. You all seem to be working very hard, and I applaud your endeavors. Maybe some of you have finished your final exams by now?
I am having the great good fortune to travel to Croatia in two days. I'm going with a group from Stanford University. It is my turn to study because we were assigned many books to read about Croatia and its history prior to our trip. I understand it is a beautiful country with many waterfalls and mountains. We will also travel down its coast. The Adriatic Sea, I'm told, is chrystal clear and blue. Thank you, dear students, for writing to me. I regret that I can't answer each letter personally. There are too many of you now to do that. Sincerely, Susan
Dear Students

Once again, I read your letters with pleasure. You all have interesting subjects to discuss, and you express what you understand so well.
Are you learning your subjects is English??

I’ve been working in my garden several hours a day. This year we’ve had a lot of rain (the first year of rain in quite a while). The apricots are huge! The size of oranges. I am so happy with them because they are my favorite fruit. Today I made apricot jam.
Tomorrow I’ll make more. The fruit is falling off the tree because they are so heavy. (I only have one tree) It’s amazing because the tree has never given fruit before.
I’m wondering now if you have apricots? Maybe not. I don’t remember seeing any in Tanzania.

Is it a hot season in Tanzania now?

I think about you all, and am so proud of your efforts and accomplishments. Please write again, and tell me about yourselves.

Sincerely, Susan
My fellow students, time just flew so fast. This semester is close to its end. You all must be very busy preparing for your final exams.

I hope you are all doing a great job this semester. Some of you graduated at end of the last year. You must very anxious waiting for your notification which A-level school you are assigned to.

Doesn't matter where you are going, the most important is the goals your set and your determination to accomplish your golds.

The Chinese always say 90% is hard work and only 10% is your talent. You could accomplish everything as long as you want to.

During your break, I would like you to write down what your major accomplishing and one thing which makes you proud of yourself that you would like to share with everybody. The things your did which will make me so proud of you and encourage me to continue to support you for your future school years. My goal for all of you, one day for your to go to College/University, You are somebody everybody will proud of you.

The way to do is that you set your final goal, the goal between one step a time and try reach it then go for the next goal, eventually, you will reach your final destination.

Best regards,
Judy
Dear Students
I hear that you are leaving school soon for your long semester break. I hope you get a well-deserved rest, but if you can't rest, I hope your break is productive.
I think you all deserve special support and recognition for the very hard work you are putting in to get your education. I encourage you to keep trying, and see each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow. You will be stronger and more capable to meet the challenges of adulthood if you can face the difficulties today.
Someone said that the shortest meditation is taking a deep breath. I love to do this when I feel stressed.
I’m lucky enough to be able to take some trips this year. I’m going to Croatia, Morocco and India.
I’ll report back to you about each trip.
Thank you for sharing what you are learning. I always learn from you. You are always welcome to share with me your concerns, difficulties and joys also.
Best to you all. Susan
Dear student,
It has been a long time since I last wrote to you. I am very sorry! It is not because I forgot nor because of my laziness, but because I was tied up with my personal problem. My aging mother has been in and out of hospital many times for health issues, and I am her major care giver. Thanks for everyone's prayer, she makes small improvement.
Wish you do your best on your learning and make great effort preparing your test. You have big potential that's why TSFTZ funded you.
Please keep on writing your journal entries, we enjoy reading them and will try to write back to you at our best ability.
-Jenny

Dear Students

In my last letter to you, I asked what you knew about globalization. I got some very interesting answers. Many of you have thought about globalization’s impact on Tanzanian culture and economics, and could name both positive and negative aspects.

I was very impressed with your letters.

I guess you are facing mid term exams soon. I know you are studying very hard, and I hope you all do very well.

Wiseman, how wonderful to visit Lake Manyara National Park!

Anna Martin and others: your definition of commerce was so good.
Deusi and others: Small scale farming seems to have many positive and some negative aspects.

I’m learning a lot from your studies! Keep passing the knowledge on to me!

Susan
Dear Students

It has been a long time since I wrote to you. I think I wrote to you last before your long vacation.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation. Now you are back in school, and studying hard again.

In the United States, we are being challenged by a new government that has different goals than we have been used to.
One of you asked about “Globalization” and how it affects Tanzania.
That is a good question, and one that we need to all understand. I am just learning about it myself.

I am from California and we’ve been in a drought for 3-4 years. Then this year it started to rain. We have had so much rain in the last month that the drought is over, but the floods have been damaging. Crazy time.

Keep studying hard. You know that focussing on your goals and dreams will help you reach them. We at the School Fund are so proud of you, and we wish you the best.
Dear Students,

Happy New Year 2017, congratulations on preparing for your exams and welcome back to school !

Here is a thought to begin the year on;

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives".

Henry David Thoreau

be well,
Karen

Dear Restitua,
It is very interesting to know that your two favorite teachers are teaching your two favorite subjects. My experience is that if you like the teacher, then you will spend more time study that subject hence you will score well too. Having a good and insperational teacher is so important!
TSFTZ team has not heard from you for a while, are you doing okay? Please write to us, we all care about you and want to make sure you are happy at school and doing well with your learning. Journal is the only way that TSFTZ team can communicate with its student. Please do make effort, write to us!

Hi, How are you? Time has passed so quickly this past semester! Less two months the school will end for the year. I know some of you will take the National exam and some of you will take the Final exam. I wish you the best of luck to prepare yourself for the tests.
Please study hard and keep your goals in mind, the time will pass before you know it.
I would like you to write a journal to describe your biggest accomplished for this school year; or the things witch you are most proud. Do you have any goals in mind that you would like to achieve during your summer break?
For myself, I have been busy the past couple months selecting the new A-level and O-level students with Mr. Amos and Mr. Paulo. I welcome all of you to the school fund big family.
I hope you enjoy your final weeks, As always please speak Mr. Amos and Mr. Paulo any major issues you want bring it to my attention.
I am very proud of all of you and I am happy to help you achieve your dreams. I am very excited to plan a visit Tanzania next year around August or September. See all of your soon.
Dear Students
In my last letter to you, I asked many of you who were your favorite teachers, and what famous person inspired you.
Your answers were interesting. Although many different teachers were named, you all seemed to appreciate the same quality in them. You said you could understand them. I think these must be teachers who help you understand the subjects, and it is important to them that you understand.
Many of you named your President, John Pombe Magufuli, as the famous person who most inspired you. I looked him up in Wikipedia. He is indeed an honorable man. He advocates hard work, and he does not tolerate corruption in his government officials. So you see YOU inspired ME to learn something new.

Thank you for being such hard working students. I think of you often.

Susan

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
