Dear Students,
I would like to share with you an excellent article about how to study effectively.

How to study effectively:
1. Read the chapters before you go to the class lecture about it. It helps to know what the professor is talking about before you get there.
2. Question what you’re reading, and test yourself on it often. Generate questions after you read to go over concepts, compare and contrast, and make yourself generate examples.
3. Practice retrieving the information without your notes or book, and do it in the same way you are tested. If you are required to do essays, multiple choice, or fill in the blank, practice using the information in that way.
4. Do not study isolated facts. I only encourage notecards to work on what you are struggling with. They’re good for quick study breaks in between class or work, or to review things you struggle with before a test. Knowledge isn’t obtained in small isolated facts. Key terms and definitions aren’t going to help you really comprehend the material.
5. After the class, re-read the chapter and highlight what you think is important. After class, you may be more prepared to focus on certain sections of material.
6. Go through and highlight what you have difficulty remembering. You might want to make these points into flash cards as well. Keep the cards and review them before a test or quiz. Isolated facts aren’t how you should study, but keeping that card with you and looking over it before the test can be beneficial.
7. Spend 15 minutes a night, at least, on each class’ study guide. This kind of spaced out study helps encode the information into your long-term memory and will help you recall it faster and more accurately later.

This article helps me to study effectively. I hope you find it as helpful to your daily study as I do.

Cheers,
Jonathan Gilbert
Hello Students,

I am sitting in my desk, looking out in the rain and thinking of all of you in Tanzania.

I hope all is well with you and you have been studying hard to achieve your goals.
I’d like to share with you the below three quotes that I find meaningful and inspiring to me. I hope you find them interesting as well:

“Happiness comes a lot easier when you stop complaining about your problems and you start being grateful for all the problems you don’t have.”

“If you want to do something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you will find an excuse.”

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”

Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Jonathan Gilbert
Hi Students

How are you? Did you enjoy your break?

My husband and I just came back from a trip to the Antartica. It was a long trip, 22 days total. We first flew to Buenos Aries, the capital city of Argentina. After spending two days there, we flew down to the Ushuaia, the tip of the South America continent to board a ship. The ship took us to the Falkland Island, the South Georgia Island and the Antartica Peninsula. This is the summer season there. The ice started to break up to allow the ship to sail there. The temperature was around 1 degree Celsius, not bad at all. Most days were sunny. We saw so many penguins, seals and sea birds. They were all having babies. The babies were cute beyond descriptions. Their parents were busy feeding them. You would be touched by how tentative the parents were towards their babies. The scenery was so beautiful. I hope you can go to the internet to check out this region. With the threat of globe warming, I am a bit worried about how long the Antartica continent will hold. Recently from the news report, a large chunk of ice actually broke off from the continent. Sad, isn't?

Ok, enough of my trip report.

Please write back to me.

Until next time,
Indy
Dear Students,

Happy New Year 2017, congratulations on preparing for your exams and welcome back to school !

Here is a thought to begin the year on;

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives".

be well,

Dear Students,

As the New Year begins, I make a habit of collecting new wisdom from different sources to guide my life for the New Year. Below are a few of my favorite things I found that I would like to share with you:

1) Experience The Joy Of Learning

Each time you learn something new you gain more knowledge and with more knowledge come more confidence. Learning helps us become more adaptable and flexible to new situations. Learning encourages us to be more creative and innovative in our thinking and we are therefore more comfortable with the unknown.
Reading books is a great way for us to learn. To fully embrace the joy of learning, never stop reading and searching for more knowledge.

2) Touch someone’s soul with your kindness

Random Acts of Kindness. It’s the little things in life that matter most. Hold a door, smile at people. Kindness does not cost much and it touches the soul of another person.

3) When you master your emotions, you master your life

Anger. This is one emotion that is sure to pop up sometime during the day. How you deal with your anger says a lot about who you are as a person. How well do you manage your emotions? Do you have a harsh reaction if someone says something insulting to you? Anger can be a destructive emotion if not managed properly.

4) Respect other people’s opinions even when they differ from your own.

Conflict. It’s rare that two people agree on most topics. Conflict is everywhere. It happens at work, home, with family and friends. Disagreeing isn’t the problem (although most people think it is). The problem is not giving value to the opinions of others.

5) Speech is a powerful tool.

Your words. Watch your words carefully. They can be daggers or building blocks. You can crush the spirit of someone or make them feel like they can conquer the world. Taste your words before you spit them out. Words are your thoughts coming to life. It’s your choice.

What are your favorite quotes and wisdom to live by? I’d love to hear your thought on that.

Cheers,
Jonathan Gilbert

Hello everyone,

How are you? How was your summer? What did you do during that time?

As for me, during my break, I went with my family to visit a very special country in the Arctic Circle called Greenland. It has so many interesting facts that I thought you might enjoy hearing about its uniqueness. Greenland is a massive island located between the North Atlantic and Arctic Circle.

In Viking legend, Greenland was described as a lush, green, fertile land. Today however, ‘Whiteland’ would be a more accurate term since approximately 85 per cent of the country is covered in ice and snow. Greenland is the world's largest island with over 2 million square kilometers but it is the least densely populated territory in the world with a population of only 57,000 people.

Much of its land surface is covered in ice (imagine that!). Most of its small population lives along the ice-free, fjord-lined coast, particularly in the southwest. Its northerly position, largely above the Arctic Circle, results in natural phenomena such as summer’s midnight sun and winter’s Northern Lights.

In Greenland, the Sun does not set from May 25th to July 25th. A major part of Greenland is covered by fjords, which prevent the construction of roads. There are no roads and no railway system. All travel between towns is done by plane, boat, helicopter, snowmobile or dogsled (yes, really!).

You can learn more about Greenland by using RACHEL PI searching for it in Wikipedia.

I love Geography and I hope you enjoy learning about new countries as much I as do.

Please let me know what you will be learning next. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Jonathan Gilbert

Hello Judy s,
up to now things that can you do so as to achieve my goals is to pray for me and for the all members of TSF especially those who expect to do national exams so as to perform well in national exams.
Hello,
Through Rachel pi i got a lot of ideas and the most ideas is concerning education, and the best idea that i got last year is about the surgical of small animal that Felix did, not only that but also the most topics in my subjects that are difficulties to me ,for example today Rachel pi helps me to know about Mathematics topics known as PROBABILITY by concept i can say is the branch of mathematics which deals with measuring a chance of an events to occur or not to occur example when a person is tossing a Tanzanian coin which contain heads or tail after tossing it we expect the probability of head or tail to occur.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
