Hello Students!

My name is Anthony Xie, it's nice to talk to all of you. How are you enjoying your new year and what are some of your New Years resolutions? Mine is to become more organized, because I'm very bad at it

Dear students:

Welcome to TSFTZ family!

My name is Jenny Chen, I am a retired software engineer. I work for TSFTZ as a volunteer staff. In 1976 I came to United States from Taiwan to study Math. I live in San Francisco area most of the time with my grownup children close by. However I travel back to Taiwan very often since most of my family members are still there.

Education helps me achieve my current good living standard. I echo TSF’s motto: “Education is an investment in the future”. Our team is devoted to help school-aged children stay in school, especially girls’ education. We encourage our students to write to us so we get to know each other better. We read each journal entry enthusiastically and response accordingly because we CARE.

TSFTZ team expects each sponsored student study hard and be successful! It is my privilege to write to you. I am looking forward to work with you.

-Jenny
Happy New Year 2016 !

With this post I am writing to send you my wish that the New Year is a bright one for you; successful, healthy and happy.

I would like it if you could write me back to tell me of how you spent your time over the long school break; of your family and friends, your activities and your thoughts.

be well,
Karen
Hello Everyone,

As a year comes to close, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am very proud of each of you knowing that you have worked hard to achieve academic success despite under difficult circumstances.

You inspire me greatly and are an example of what hard work and determination can bring to one’s future.

We have worked hard in the US to raise money for your education, and nothing would make me happier seeing you take full advantage of the scholarship from The School Fund to fulfill your educational dreams in the future, whatever profession or objective that may be.

Study hard and make your dreams come true. Have a fantastic 2016!

Your friend,
Jonathan G.
Hi Vumilia,
I see that you haven't posted in your journal in awhile. It would be really great if you could find some time to let us know how you are doing and how your studies are progressing. We care about you and want to know more about you! These journals help others see how great the students of Tanzania are. Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have as well. I hope this note finds you happy and healthy and I also hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
Amanda
It is nice to see most of you already went to the computer center to update your journal. I know all of you had a great break. It is already half way on in your second semester. Two more months before this school year is going to end. I wish you all to try your best. I know you all can do it.

In your summer assignment you wrote that you will study hard so you could reach your dream. It is true that your future is in your own hands, and your own destination is how you are going to work on your goals and reach them. People could recommend that you do some things and they can help you in some way, but you are the only person that can make the your dream come true. Any step you take, you are one step close to your dream. I want to see you all work hard to reach your next destination.

As the people who fund your education we want to know you. The only way we have to know you are through your journals.

Please write in your journal, so that we can know you better. You can write about your daily life, your school, your friends, what subjects you are studying now. What is your favorite subject and why do you like it, and so on. We want to know your hopes and dreams. Or write us anything at all that you want us to know about.

I want you all to be outstanding people in my mind, each of you separate and special. If you are just a name in a group, there is no way for me to know you.

I know some of you are going to have your National Exam. I pray for you and wish you the best.
When I was your age. I was the same as you.. I worked for everything I needed and wanted.
I never gave up. I knew if I just tried hard and never lost my hope that I would make it.

I did talk to Mr. Amos, and Mr. Paulo, they said MMM center (computer center) will be open any time. You can drop by to study the subject you are interested in from the RACHEL PI.

Everybody can be successful if they are self learners. The more knowledge you have the more successful you will be. Everything on this earth comes and goes, only an Education will be with you and nobody can take it away from you.
Hi Vumilia,

I am impressed by your knowledge of Abraham Lincoln. He played a big role in making our country what it is today. How are you doing in your classes? Are you currently on break from school?

I am getting ready to go to Peru for 3 weeks. I am very excited about that. I have not been there before. Then I will be going to a family reunion and see my brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. That will be fun also.

Wishing you the best.
Anne
Hi Vumilia,
I just want to wish you good luck in your new school year. It looks like you have been learning about US political history based on your previous post about Abraham Lincoln. He was a very influential president in our history and did many great things for human rights. It's so great to know that your history teachings are quite vast. Could you tell me about an important historical figure from Tanzania? I would love to learn about your country's history from you.

All my best to you,
Amanda
Hello,

I just want to say hello to all of you.
My name is Judy Severson.
My son Matthew Severson began The School Fund (TSF) in 2009 when he was at University.
After he graduated from University, he started to work full time. It was then that he asked me to help TSF in Tanzania.

We were really lucky to get help from the Chairman and President Mr. Fuad, the Chief Operation Officer Mr. Amos in Iringa, our local representative Mr. Paulo in Karatu and
all the local headmaster/headmistress and teachers. Without their help we will not be able to support all the TSF students in Tanzania.
I thank all of them very much for all of their support.

I am very glad we are able to help to pay much of your school fees, so you can continue your education. Keep up the good work! I hope one day you can reach your dream.

I brought RACHEL-PI systems for all the schools and I hope that you use them to help you study. The content on RACHEL-PI can provide a lot of additional information for you to learn.
I hope your new semester is successful and joyful.

With my best wishes,
Judy
Hello TSF members
Today i would like to talk about Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was the one among American leaders who was born on February 12 ,1809,he was very famous during his leadership because of the following;
Lincoln never lost track of where he came from. He always kept it in his head that he had gotten less than a year of formal schooling. He knew that he had never had money. He knew that he was from the frontier while other people in his political circles had grown up in full fledged cities or otherwise established areas in the East. He knew these things, but he always fought to combat his disadvantages
rather than let them beat him.
Lastly One thing that people often miss about Lincoln is that he was a genius. One of the reasons it’s easy to miss this is because one of his great gifts was taking a complex concept and whittling it down so that anybody could understand it. For example Wherever he went, Lincoln made friends. His heart and mind were always open to new people.
Thanks
Hi Vumilia,
I hope you are doing well. I have put some funds into your account in hopes to help you through to next year. I would love to hear about your current studies and if you are enjoying them? Please write to me when you have a break from your studies.
All my best to you,
Amanda
Hi Vumilia,

My name is Daxue. My younger son Anthony and I are volunteers for The School Fund. We would like to write to you often and hear back from you. How are you doing? Schools here are in summer break and Anthony is in Oregon with his friends on a trip.

I hope you are doing well with everything.

Best wishes,

Daxue
Hi Vumilia,

I hope this finds you doing well. I am sure you are studying hard as you know that being a doctor takes a lot of study. Are you now in S3? When do you have time off from school?

I look forward to hearing from you again.
Baraka,
Anne
Hi Vumilia,

It is great to hear from you. How are you doing? It's good to know that you want to be a doctor. Why do you want to become a doctor? What kind of doctor do you wan to be? Maybe we can find some books about being a doctor to read in this summer!

Warmly,
Ying

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
