When Piterly was 2, his parents went to the Dominican Republic and left him with his grandmother. After his parents settled, they returned to Haiti and brought him to the Dominican Republic. Piterly and his sister were 2 of the first students when the Institution of the Improvement of Life Through Education started in 2006. He's now reached the 6th grade and is preparing to take the National Exam in Haiti in June.
